Its a must if you are staying in Gdansk, I would do your research on the internet if you decide not to have a guided tour. Well worth a visit just to see the Amber Alter which is still being built

The twice we tried this week it was closed, as builders were working on site. We could only see through the glass internal door. The outside is certainly impressive enough.

Well known church in Gdansk, with a unique amber altar, incredible for sure. Associated with the Solidarity Movement and former president Lech Walesa.

St. Bridget's Church is the parish church of the Gdansk Shipyards, it dates back to the late 14th century although the church was only rebuilt in 1973. The church and one of its priests, the anti-communist, Father Henryk Jankowski came to prominence during the Solidarity Strikes of 1980, when he become the movement's chaplain. Apart from the important role that this church had with Solidarnosc, it has an impressive altar made out of amber.
