As a birthday surprise, I was treated to 4 days in Prague by my daughter.

We stayed at the Ibis Praha Wenceslas Square. It was ok, but just OK. Well located for a walk into Wenceslas Square etc. However the bed was uncomfortable, I suspect a strange thick quilt like mattress on the base rather than a proper sprung one was the culprit. The room was very warm and despite asking reception if the temperature could be lowered, it never changed and we had to sleep with a window open. Tea making facilities were not replenished for the duration of our stay and the staff were not the friendliest.
The usual continental breakfast was the order of the day and the restaurant was very very busy. Food was lukewarm and not the best.

The Christmas markets have brightly decorated wooden huts selling handicrafts, such as ceramics, jewellery, embroidered lace, wooden toys and scented candles, Christmas tree ornaments, hats and gloves, and puppets and dolls dressed in traditional costume.
We tried some of the local food and drink. Hams are roasted on spits, barbequed sausages (klobása), cakes and pastries are made front of you. You must have 'Trdelník', a hot sugar coated pastry. Some are coated inside with melted chocolate and filled with strawberries and cream WOW! The Old Town Square also had an animal stable, with sheep, goats and a donkey. And there is a large Bethlehem scene depicting Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus and the Three Kings in a wooden stable.

The Jewish quarter is worth a visit, there are designer shops along Parizska Street which are great for window shopping. I don't think we could afford to step in them let alone buy anything :-) There is lots to see and all areas are within walking distance of each other. We went on a guided tour which was definately worth it as we saw lots of things that we may have missed on our own.

Overall I would recommend Prague as it is a beautiful place and well worth a visit. However I would probably look for a different hotel next time.

Don't be confused by the name This hotel is not located in Wenceslas Square. It is a 10 minute walk from the square. Having said that, the location is good, the whole of the city centre is easily walkable from here and there are convenience stores, coffee shops and a metro station in the immediate vicinity. The fact that the hotel is in a quiet side street also makes for a peaceful nights sleep. The hotel itself is standard Ibis fit-out. It was clean and comfortable, the WIFI worked well and the reception staff were friendly and welcoming.

Dear Rich J,
I would like to thank you for your time to give us your review, about your recent stay at ibis Praha Wenceslas Square.
I am sorry, you have been disappointed, about the location of our hotel. Unfortunately the name of our hotel is set up by exact rules, so we can not do anything about it. On the other hand, I am happy that at the end you have been kind of satisfied with this location, thanks to the nearby metro station.
I am pleased, that you have had a nice sleep during the night, so hopefully, you have enjoyed the exploring of Prague. I will surely pass all of your comments to our team.

We do hope, we will have the chance to welcome you soon again.

We stayed for a long weekend to visit Prague and the Christmas markets. Although the hotel says Wenceslas Square it is a good ten minute walk from the main city areas so be aware. There is a tram stop very close however and they are great for getting about! The hotel is lovely - comfy bed, warm and a great base for visiting the city. Breakfast was the only slight disappointment, there was no organisation, no staff present and too small for the number of guests. It is continental with a limited amount of hot food but we found plenty to eat. Tea and coffee is available at reception at a small cost, one recommendation for the hotel is to stock English breakfast tea at reception, a favourite for many after a cold day sightseeing!
I would certainly recommend the ibis to anyone visiting Prague, reasonably priced, great location and everything you need for a city break!
