I have visited the Fotoatelier Seidl for the 2nd time after a couple of years. The history of the ownership is amazing and you can see a short document at the beginning of the tour. You can do a self-guided tour with an audio-guide and/or a guided tour which starts every hour. It is a hidden gem with wonderfully restored interiors in Art-Nouveau style. Many foreign visitors go to to the Castle which is overcrowded. This place is fine with wonderful ambiance and it is totally worth to visit. You can learn how people lived in this part of the world in 1800's and see old pictures from the beautiful Sumava mountains.
Even though it was Monday the kind manager let us in and was very nice! Amazing old cameras and a great collection of old photos. Wish we could have had a photo taken however we were greatfull that we got to see it on a day it is normally closed. Over it was pretty cool!
This is a must for all photographers, unique historical treasure. You can have your own photographs in 1910s atelier and costumes
It's a nice place showing photography antiques. You can also take old-style picture but only sent via mail
Thank you for your comment.
Just one tiny note, we also do prints.
Sincerely Martin Tůma, operations manager
Exhaustive and informative tour of the work of Seidel. One can request for a period setting shoot, too.
This was a wonderful place to while away a wet afternoon and gain an appreciation of what photography used to be about.
