It's simple....if you're in the area, check the Orpheum out. What a beautiful theatre. Everything about it is just magnificent. A great restoration. Well done guys.

Lovely old picture house recently restored to its former glory. Different screens different sizes and all the chairs are comfortable . You can take wine, soft drinks and snacks that you buy in the kiosk there into the movie . Well worth checking this place out

This cinema isn't part of a chain. I hear they bought up all the old fixtures and fitting from Art Deco Cinemas that were being modernised or demolished.
There are several cinemas and each one is different. the whole building - foyer, toilets bar etc have been fitted out in with thought and taste to reflect this unique style.

I never visit Sydney without spending an evening at the wonderful Orpheum.

I had seen the lovely Art Deco exterior from the street many times but until I went in I had no idea as to the extent of the renovations and the general high level of upkeep. I don't think it's exaggerating to say the interior is awesome. Everywhere there are authentic or authentically recreated period details. Despite having been converted into 6 small screens the quality of the original building remains. From the grille behind which the tickets are sold, to the decor in the bar area, the carpet, the amazing stained glass fittings in the screens, the moulded ceiling, it's all true to the period. A must for architecture and design lovers. PLUS a compressive programme of films on show every day.

Always a treat to go to the Orpheum , which started on this site in 1935 . It has been lovingly retired to its former glory and is like stepping back in time . We go there regularly for their National Theatre Live broadcasts where London West End hits are filmed and then shown around the world . Such a great way to see shows which are impossibly booked out in London . Last nights Steven Sondheim " Follies" was a real treat , as it is rarely performed owing to its technical demands . A pastiche of Sondheim numbers put together to tell the tale of a troupe of Zigfield Folly - esque dancers , reuniting in their autumn years . Loved it
