Long day on the road. Came here yesterday soon after arriving in Clare. This restaurant couldn't be more inviting. Beautiful , homey, rustic decor downstair. We felt right at home, yet also in a classy place at the same time. The food was amazing. We chose platter of local meats and preserved vegetables for entree, which appetising. Fresh, high quality and sourced locally. The 12-hour slow cooked lamb shoulder in fig and pomegranate sauce is a must try. Tender and very tasty. Extensive wine and drinks selection, complemented by very knowledgeable staff who guided us through the drinks selection, keenly suited to our described palate preference. No doubt, we booked and returned tonight, only to have our pleasant experience last night, and high expectations surpassed tonight.
The staff was accommodating of our unexpected travel plans affecting tonights booking. We were welcomed warmly like old friends despite having only arrived at Clare last night. This time we were seated upstairs, themed more formal. The beef rib steak was amazing, charcoal grilled. My daughter was accommodated with bar menu of kids meals. She was as pleased tonight by her pasta, as she was by her burger last night. My older daughter's ricotta gnocchi with oyster mushroom, was described as unique and divine.
This restaurant's great rustic, homey ambience, is complemented by great enthusiastic, warm, friendly, knowledgeable staff.
We happened to meet a local family the earlier this morning, who also spontaneously remarked that this new restaurant is the most exciting thing in the region the past year, and all the food are locally sourced and made in-house.
We plan to drive back to Clare, soon, if only to visit this gem of a restaurant.
