Via Italia was amazing!!! Family and allergy friendly. Professional and personable staff. Most flavoursome pizzas this side of Italy - and we've been there and done that yum yum!
Generous serving sizes, amazing atmosphere, and sea breeze - you'll be hard pressed to find us eating anywhere else during our holiday. Electronic drink ordering and wait staff summoning devices on all tables - kitchen out the back and tables centred around a bar.

We had a table of 10. We all enjoyed various meals. A bit of confusion with the digital drink ordering, but we all worked it all out in the end

Via Italia - exactly what you'd expect of a peak season beachfront diner, with the bonus of very good pizza!

Plus points:
- Very good pizza!
- A maitre d'hotel who was very efficient, very polite and diplomatic, enabling this place to cater well to a large flow of diners. He diplomatically made it clear that if you're late, bad luck! That is not easy to do!
- A decent range of other dishes, without any being outstanding.
- Efficient service and friendly staff.
- The use of technology was the best I have seen, with benefits for both diner and restaurateur. Their 2-tiered system worked well - the diners order drinks on the table's tablet, ensuring prompt drinks service WHEN you want the drinks! But the staff manage the food orders, doing this well to ensure meals flowed at the desire pace, without seeming to rush diners. The whole table order appears progressively on the tablet, allowing you to monitor the order. In our case, we were able to correct an incorrect order, which was useful for all parties.

Minus points:
- Wines and drinks were quite overpriced for the quality and range. Perhaps that is their "peak season" menu pricing?
- Beach strip sidewalk diners are usually cramped and not very clean, especially at peak season. This was true here, but that is "part of the deal" I guess!

Overall, well done to provide quality food in a busy casual beach setting,

Via is a definite favourite as a Mooloolaba local, we eat here for breakfast A LOT. Food is always delicious and beautifully presented with lots of options and the evening pizza & pasta meals have always been lovely. This is why I will always be back.
However, the service is not great. Staff are friendly but there seems to be a lack of management as you can sit down and no one will even acknowledge you or give you a menu for a good 5 minutes, then when orders are in, drinks seems to take forever (food sometimes comes first) This is in quiet times.
I don't mind waiting for good food in lovely settings but the staff need training to be more attentive, i.e. when guests sit down give them menus and water and tell them you'll be back! If food will be a while at least keep the guests watered (the bar needs more drink makers as there can be 4 wait staff (3 standing around and one making drinks)
Please figure out a system where your guests feel attended to and looked after as your food is awesome. (We take all our sunny coast visitors here - we unfortunately have to pre warn them about the service and say it's worth it good the food)

Five attempts to book a table for lunch by phone and five times no response to our messages left. However we did turn up and were greeted warmly. Considering the place was only half full between breakfasts (which continue until 1pm) and lunch - we arrived at midday, we were able to get a table for our group. The menu, as expected is almost entirely Italian with such items as Boring Eggs (Done anyway with toast) and Boring Salad (Just lettuce tomato and onion) to tickle our sense of humour. The pizza list is extensive and although rather expensive around $30 we did try a variety of dishes between the six of us. However it seems the size of the gnocchi orders vary considerably. One of the group got 6 while another person got only 4. It worked out a very expensive choice especially for my indignant daughter who protested that hers worked out over $5 a gnocchi. The Di Carne pizza was delicious. The seafood ravioli was also pronounced tasty. However we did have to ask for more drinks which I find is quite poor service but there did seem to be only one girl on that task for the whole restaurant, which by this time was very busy. The staff were very polite, friendly and busy. Via Italia is worth a visit if you have the Sunshine Coast/Brisbane Entertainment Book but could be rather expensive otherwise especially if you want gnocchi.
