“Monument on the hill”

Thames First World War Memorial
Reviewed 4 April 2018

A monument to remember the war heroes is standing proudly on the hill. With all the heroes names grafted at the base of the monument visitors can get a brief history about war in the past, but also get reward with such beautiful horizon at the low land below, Thames township at the front and Hauraki Plain at the far background. In the opposite position people can see this tall monument standing magnificently on the hill from the town centre. Easy to be visited, people can come this monument by driving to the base of the monument.

We found this by accident, saw the sign as we drove through to see what Thames had to offer, but we could see it as we drove and wandered how to get there. The area is well looked after. There is a wonderful view of the town and bay. We thought it was worth a visit.
