Well, i have to give the Turret Cafe an 7 out 10 for their food efforts and after all when one reviews a food establishment then it has to be the food that is the key to our critique. A touch more seasoning and a little less red onion and i would have been a little more generous. My issue here though is predominantly that this is a breakfast/lunch geared venue. The Turret is well laid out and for all points welcoming batmen changes within reason should not be an issue. We are not messing with a delicate balance of flavours or fiercely imaginatively constructed dish. So......when some dishes are available with poached, scrambled, fried or your choice of eggs surely substitution is not messing with the chefs head too much. I ordered the breakfast stack all of which dishes ingredients are available as "extras" however it comes with poached. i asked politely to substitute the poached that came with the dish for scrambled. My waiter took the time to check although apparently it "only ever comes this way" but alas i was pushing the envelope too far an "No" was the answer. Why should it matter? Really? all varieties of eggs i assume would need to be freshly cooked and not pre made and pre stacked. I am the customer and after all without me you have no trade. It couldn`t have been a huge inconvenience to alter this for me. Maybe with all the other, and there are many, breakfast places in lovely Ballarat maybe i should`t inconvenience you with my custom again.
