My friend and I have been to Henry's several times now, with a mixture of experiences ranging from great to average but last night was easily the very best!

Ordinarily, we have five courses but the last time found ourselves still hungry after (as they are entree-sized portions, which is great with their tasting menu style) so this time around we ordered six.
... Probably should have stuck with five, as the servings seemed more generous this time around and we had to enlist the help of a friend who joined us after work for a drink to eat our last course!
Every single dish was fabulous, but the stand out was definitely the deconstructed duck spring rolls! The flavours and textures were perfectly balanced, rich and refreshing at the same time!

There was a slight mixup with one of my courses (understandable- we ordered 12 separate dishes all up and mistakes happen), but our waitress handled it brilliantly and made us feel very well looked after.

In fact, she was warm and thoughtful from the moment we stepped into the restaurant- our allocated table was very close to another noisy group, so she offered us a warmer and quieter table before we'd even sat. Such consideration can be rare these days.
We didn't learn her name unfortunately, but we hope she (and her boss) reads this and knows a) she's fantastic at her job and b) we wish we'd had more cash on us to leave a better tip!

All in all, a lovely night, and we're planning to return in a few months for another brand new menu!

TL;DR: Heaps of excellent food, but the service was the standout of the night.

Open late into the night, we were stunned at how gorgeous this place was. Our table was directly above the cellar which had a glass panel in the floor so we could see inside. Fascinating!
The menu is a gustation style and we ordered 3 dishes each, including spaghetti with chilli oil and capers; cauliflower with pecans; prawns and calamari; crumbed veal and mushrooms; and orange creme brûlée. In addition we had red wine. We did not leave hungry!
Oh. My. Goodness. It was all amazing and to top it off, the staff were super friendly.

We were only in Launceston for one night and dropped in to Henry's with no booking. Although they were busy they gave us a table which was great. The menu is one in which you must order a minimum of 3 plates per person at $15 per plate. That was fine by us as we like to try different things. The wait staff were all very friendly and helpful. The let down was unfortunately the food. We had 6 dishes - spicy creole prawns that were cooked so perfectly only to be ruined by the over saltiness of the seasoning. We also had asian beef hotpot, indian lentil cakes, filo trout, wallaby leg and finally the apple cinnamon cake. None of which wowed us. A bit bland all around except for the prawns. It could be so much better if they adjusted the seasonings. Everything else about Henry's was great though. The bar snacks looked good and there was live music so a real shame about the restaurant food at least for us on that particular night.

This place is great, really great atmosphere with an open fire and classy surrounds. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable and we both loved the food, what more can I say...we will be back for drinks nights and dine here again, Launceston needs more places like this.

The opportunity to have an outstanding meal and a couple good local beers followed by sitting in chesterfield lounges while spinning our own selection from their vinyl record collection is rare. Love this place and will eat there again when down this way.
