Thoughtful service and romantic atmosphere at the apple cottage made our special moment - proposal unforgetable! Highly recommended, one of the feature of Adelaide hills to be proud of. It would be even more beautiful in the months of springs and autumn: September, March April... Friendly professional staff gave us feeling of being home.

Steve was so incredibly friendly, from that very first phone call you started to relax. The Cottage was an ideal Aussie country vision, inside, and out. Location was close to everything the Adelaide Hills are renowned for, but amazingly quiet, peaceful, and totally relaxing. In the high paced world, this place transported you to somewhere else entirely. The full moon reflected in the lake below was not in any of the brochures, plus it was clever to have a Hans Heysen like Gum Tree directly below the house as if by magic. If you were wanting the perfect break...this is it!

Thank you for your lovely comments and review of your exceptional experiences at Gum Tree Cottage.

I'd love to say I magically placed that gum tree there just for you... we did however place the cottage right next to that stunning gum tree to add to our guests experience.

We are looking forward to welcoming you back for your next perfect break.
Kind regards,
Steve & Mandy

On entering The Nest for our three day stay we were stunned at the amount of effort that had gone into making it #1 in its category...and truly deserved. Soft music playing and airconditioning on...and that was just the beginning. Spacious bathroom with picture window from double spa bath over the green hillsides, kitchen fitted with more equipment than anyone would have a right to expect in a holiday rental...and on looking in the fridge there was more than enough breakfast provisions for us to cook breakfasts of eggs, bacon, tomatoes, with bread and butter and a cabinet with any and everything most would ever need for breakfast.
The comfy bed had electric blanket as well as the wood heater and airconditioning and alongside was not one but two iPod radio units.
Good TV and Wi-Fi reception and a great outlook made for lazy days. A bonus was the number of birds that we could see from the lounge.
If you are lucky enough to be able to spend some time in The Nest play the game, "spot what's missing"! It'll be hard to list anything.
Congratulations to Steve, Mandy and Di...no wonder you are number one and no doubt will be for some time to come.

We stayed at the nest on the June long weekend, this is our fourth visit in 5 years to country cottages having stayed in the Gumtree, Appletree & the nest twice now I can thoroughly recommend them. When you arrive the fire is set so you only have to light a match to get it going.but the cottage is warm when you walk in because they have put the split system on to make it nice and warm. They have beautiful music playing to set the mood so you are extremely relaxed. We live 30 minutes away but feel like we are a million miles away from home. Nothing is left to chance, the cottages are so comfortable and feel remote , you have enough fresh provisions for a full cooked breakfast each day with a coffee machine as well. There is a decanter of port and chocolates & a basket of fresh fruit. A variety of different tea bags and biscuits. You can take a long relaxing walk through the property and then return to a nice hot spa bath. What more could you want in a get away. Steve and Mandy are the perfect hosts and I'm sure if you googled customer service Steve's smiling face would be there, when you check in you get information of places nearby to visit and then you are not disturbed at all, however if you have a problem a quick phone call to Steve and he goes above and beyond to resolve it. I can not speak highly enough of this amazing getaway you have to try it and you will not be disappointed. We have travelled to many parts of the world with great experiences but this is by far above most places and you can see why they continue to win awards.

Room Tip: For couples wanting a romantic getaway the Nest is amazing

Hi Debbie,
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a detailed review of your stay at our stunning retreat "The Nest" over the long weekend. We are delighted to provide you a haven that you and Simon can return to year after year and re-experience this gem, so close to Adelaide, but as you said, "feels like we are a million miles away from home".
We are looking forward to welcoming you back very soon.

We arrived at Gum Tree Cottage after dark and entered the cottage to find music playing and the fire laid with a bottle of wine ready. Excellent first impressions!! We woke to an amazing country vista of dams and mature trees. Excellent second impression and it just got better. The cottages are intelligently designed and beautifully decorated. The cottages are very close to all the Adelaide Hills attractions. Don't stay in Adelaide - stay in the Hills -only a 30 minute drive away.

Room Tip: AHCC have a variety of cottages depending on your taste. Lavender and Gum Tree are traditional whilst the others are modern - all are fantastic.
