A top ride with impressive vistas, good long descents , great huts for conversing with like minded bikers & trampers.
Certainly the work to get the gradient to a rideable level has been tremendous, hats off to the crews that built & maintain the track.
Totally recommended to both trampers & bikers.

This was our 6th time to do part of the Old Ghost Road.
We have done it several times on the Lyell end and twice on the Seddonville end. - There are lots of options. Doing the Helibike is also a great option.

What an amazing journey this is wether you cycle or walk.
The track is fantastic , so many people ( Mokihinui -Lyall Back country Trust “have contributed physically & mentally so much time it is very humbling & greatly appreciated.
It’s a must do for every fit & active tramper or cyclist.
Huts are well positioned. Clean tidy , comfy with gas cookers,plates, cutlery, composting toilets, basic wash rooms .
The scenery is absolutely stunning every day.

What a wonderful engineering achievement to get all the infrastructure up and running to open up our back country to the world - as long as you're prepared for all weathers and to 'rough it a bit!' It's a challenging but exciting journey in such mixed terrain. Our group of 14 came off the track yesterday.
