Came for dinner, found very friendly and helpful staff and was offered a table and menu. I noticed this had Bluff oysters (first chance to sample) and a good soup option and had eaten so much did not have a main. The oysters were served with a respectable green salad and were beautiful The creme of mushroom soup seem to be home made and felt very healthy. Hard to find any fault at all.

4 of us in our party. Disappointing food especially compared to the Petone, Lower Hutt Speights. The two roasts were definitely only average and the 2 steaks were nothing to write home about. Not good value for money.

Food average, have been a few times, never get the pork belly as it is cold meat heated up, disgusting to taste.
The other night I had curry from the vegan menu, it was okay.
Tonight I had pan fried blue cod, was a bit dubious as previous experience not good, I forgot to say I wanted gluten-free but thought being pan fried it would be bare fish, it wasn’t, it was covered in a batter of ?flour, fine I scraped it off, the fish had a mild ammonia taste, any stronger I would have sent it back. I tasted a piece of my granddaughters battered blue cod minus the batter, it was beautiful.
Note to chef, taste the fish you are going to pan fry before cooking.
Probably wouldn’t have written this review if the chef had acknowledged my concerns.
Service was great, coffee was perfect, dressings left on the side as requested.
When you are a restricted diet for whatever reason it is really disappointing to get just about “off”/“crappy” food.

A very enjoyable dinner. Great range of food options. A little noisy if your looking for a quiet night but it is a pub after all.
