When arriving you are initially impressed with the room. It is clean on first appearances but on closer inspection there is an extreme amount of mould on the curtains. As the weather had turned cool, I attempted to switch on the electric blankets, only to discover that they are not connected and the cords and controls are wedged under the mattress. To access these you are required to drag the bed out some 2 feet from the wall to find a single double hotpoint located centrally behind the bed. At this stage it must be noted that this was booked as a disability unit and the guest was wheelchair bound making this manoeuvre impossible . Upon requesting an adapter plug from reception the attitude was that we should not be interfering with anything. I returned to the room and on testing the electric blanket discovered only one side was working. Back at reception i was told " see the housekeeping staff". When the cleaning staff arrived, I informed Erina, the head housekeeper of the problem and also the fact that you could not use both blankets and the clock at the same time owing to there being only the one plug."Leave it to me" she said and left the unit for a short time returning with an assortment of cords and plugs. Within a few minutes she had successfully alleviated the problems with all cords hidden out of sight with no chance of becoming entangled with any. This was after I had been informed by the receptionist that due to health and safety they were not allowed to plug the blankets in permanently. Erina not only solved the problem but told us in detail the problems with the curtains and different cleaning products they had tried with no success. The room was due to be redecorated soon and they would be replaced. Surely the receptionist was aware of the updates due but it was left to Erina to explain it to us.With her concern for the welfare of the guests it would be well advised to transfer her to the reception desk.

Hello John

At Suncourt Hotel & Conference Centre we pride ourselves on our access facilities (we have two accessible rooms) so this kind of feedback is invaluable to us so that we can make any changes required. We will ensure that our access rooms have a multi-plug set up beside the Queen Bed so that it is accessible for our guests requiring these access facilities.
As mentioned in previous responses the curtains in this lake view block were being replaced and I'm pleased to advise this has now been completed. Should you choose to stay at Suncourt again you will certainly notice the difference.

Kind regards
Pip Owens

The site is a little tired but our room was in great condition.
The view of the lake and mountains was panoramic.
The wifi was the best I've ever had at a hotel. This was handy as I had several multi-party video Skype work calls on the second day here.
We could walk to plenty of restaurants in town in less than 10 minutes.

Room Tip: The lake view rooms are worth it.

Hello Neil

We've spent a long time improving our WIFI system with extenders throughout our property so it's great to hear such fantastic feedback.
We are privileged to enjoy such a stunning view from the Hotel every day, so I'm glad that you got to enjoy it also.

Kind regards
Pip Owens

I recently had a 2 night stay here. The room was very nicely appointed, updated and in good condition. The building looks a bit dated, but the rooms are of a good standard and must have been renovated more recently. The room has a split system air-conditioner which worked extremely well for the chilly evening. The room was a good size and had a very comfortable queen size bed. Bathroom was a bit dated but was extremely clean as was the room.

We also agree that we have great views from our 40 lake view rooms! It can tend to get a bit chilly in Taupo during the colder months so not only do we have split system air-conditioners but also electric blankets to keep our guests warm at night. Please visit us again next time you are in Taupo.

We were a group of four couples and a few other family members that stayed at the Suncourt Hotel & Conference Centre in Taupo, NZ. Not only were the rooms at the hotel commodious and airy, they provided us lovely views of the lake. The city centre was within walking distance, and gave us enough opportunity to explore Taupo to our heart's content. The breakfast that was served in the cafe was sumptuous; and the staff - across the property - were all helpful, friendly and responsive.

Room Tip: Choose the rooms on the upper floor, that face the lake - for the best value for money.

We stayed here as a couple, I still remember that we did not have a booking at Taupo and was wondering where we can stay and we just drove past the lake and saw Suncourt on the other side we drove in and were welcomed by the very helpful front desk staff .

We just loved the location and views, very neat and good place for families, parking is free, would love to stay again in-fact have recommended my extended family to stay here and they all loved it.

Stayed in January 2007..
