Well from the time of arrival we were in for multiple treats, superbly comfortable bed, charmingly greeted and good with advice about things to do, very accommodating as we left early one morning for golf and breakfast was all ready for us in the self catering part of the accommodation. Next day was more normal and we were served a fabulous break fast - a feast with superbly chosen fruits, good coffee and then HOT Cross buns. All eaten as sun as the sun shone through the window and bathed the vineyard below the house in golden sunlight.
The room and bathroom facilities are well designed, the shower excellent and all aspects of the whole place thoughtfully designed and produced. A most memorable stay, thank you for the wine, company and great nights sleep. Stepping out into the landscaped garden was like stepping back to French chateau holidays and the warm sunshine that accompanied our visit helped alot too. Last but not least Jim and Lynne were the best.

Room Tip: all beds are top of the range,

Thanks so much for your generous review. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us at Rive Gauche. We loved having you as guests and would be delighted to host you again should you decide to return to Taupo. There are certainly à lot of activities here to lure you back again. We enjoyed our discussions, and your travel tips too. Perhaps we will be able to take up some of your suggestions one day. In the meantime, enjoy your next adventure. We wish you both all the best.

We stayed at Rive Gauche for 2 nights, what a lovely experience. Starting from the moment we drove up and saw the beautifully designed home and landscaped gardens. Lynne and Jim met us at the door and immediately made us feel at home. The interior of the house was beautiful and the guest area was in a separate wing which allowed for privacy.
The location made it easy to visit the volcanic area and the Tongariro National Park.Lynne was very helpful when it came to questions about restaurants and places to visit.
They both facilitated guest interactions and we enjoyed some very good "house wine" with Lynn & Jim and 2 other lovely couples of travelers, one from France and another from New Zealand.
Last but not least, the breakfasts were excellent.
Thank You Lynne & Jim.

Well, the accommodation on the website looked fabulous hence our choosing Rive Gauche, but when we arrived it was far better than on the photos. The room was beautifully and tastefully appointed and spotlessly clean. The vines were spectacular, especially with the early morning mist rising at sunrise. Our generous and friendly hosts invited us for drinks and nibbles to meet the other guests and it was an extremely interesting evening, we discussed politics and ethics and travel - just up our alley! We were sad to leave at the end of our three nights as we felt very much at home in the gorgeous setting. We did not partake of the breakfast as we were meeting friends in town, but I am sure it would have been scrumptious, judging by the nibbles served.
PS we regret not buying more wine....will have to come back....

Thank you so much for choosing to stay with us at Rive Gauche and for your enthusiastic comments. We are so pleased that your stay was beyond expectation. We designed the studio as a peaceful retreat, a place to unwind at the end of a busy day, from where guests can admire the ever changing vineyard and river views. In the studio we offer a degree of flexibility with our self-catering and B&B options so that guests can choose the most suitable formula for them.
We endeavour to spend some time with our guests, offering visitors the opportunity to relax over a glass of our own wine. At times it may be possible to meet other guests and enjoy some rewarding and entertaining discussion.

We stayed in Rive Gauche for four nights. It was THE best place to visit the lake, walk in Tongariro and cycle the Great Lake Trail. A wonderful house in a beautiful location, just out of town. Lynne and Jim are very hospitable and they can give you all the advice you need. Best of all, their Pinot Grigio is by far the best we have tasted in New Zealand. If we return to one location on the North Island, Rive Gauche will be it!

The situation is just outsde Taupo and very peaceful. If I visit the area again I would not consider staying anywhere else. The attention to detail is beyond reproach.
