We went on a short tour of the kiwi sanctuary and our guide was really informative and interesting, and the kids enjoyed it too. Luckily for us, their oldest kiwi resident was awake and we got great views of her in her home.

A good place for a walk around with the family. There is a nice waterfall to look at and we got a look at a some New Zealand wildlife.
The boat ride is a lot of fun and it's a thrill to plunge down the slide though you may get a soaking. If you like it you can go on it as many times as you like as it's included in the admission price.
The gift shop here is one of the best we went to and we bought a few souvenirs there. The prices seemed quite reasonable too.

We went to the Rainbow Springs Nature Park as a part of our tour of Rotorua. It’s a relatively small park, but it had a bunch of things to see.

They have a kiwi bird program to help the species increase their numbers in the wild. It was pretty neat to see the kiwis. That was probably the highlight of the trip. You can enter their sanctuary, but you cannot take pictures of them. They have some stuffed kiwis before you enter the sanctuary that you can take pictures of.

They have a reptile that is unique to New Zealand that has a super slow metabolism and lives a very long life. It is called a tuatara.

There might have been at least one ride there, but unfortunately we didn’t have enough time to explore.

Better than I was imaginig; and me being a kiwi. Fantastic bush and sanctuary set out. So much to see and take in. The Big Splash 'Ride through Time' was really worth the wetting at the end. And coming back after 9pm to have a close encounter with Kiwi, was amazing. A great way to get a good feel for our fantastic bush and wildlife. And the staff are always ready to chat and offer information.
