Nice fish and chips with other seafood like mussels and squid rings. Good food, cooked fresh, and they have tables so you can eat outside. The shop and tables and chairs were clean and inviting. The only downside is the pavement can get very crowded and noisy at peak times.

Having caught plenty of snapper on our morning fishing charter we didn’t know what to do with the fish fillets.
Ocean 68 will cook your catch for you for a minimal charge of $3.00 per head.

It beaks my heart to say this, but the fish and chips I had here were better than anything that I've had in Australia.

The food is amazing! The staff are friendly and engaging. The turnaround times are impressive. You can't ask for more than that...

I asked at the tourist information center for a dedicated Fish & Chip Shop that did “proper” fresh cut chips. They directed me here! I made my order, then saw all that were being served had “frozen” bagged type chips. Total insult to ANYBODY that likes Fish & Chips. Then it took “EONS” to get my very basic order. In the end I went back to the counter & said, can I have my drink I ordered out of the fridge please, I cannot wait any longer. Even other customers said, “Are they out catching the fish for you?” When the lady from the counter finally turned up with this very basic order, I opened it & took a quick look. Poorly cooked “frozen” type chips & very over heavily battered, what looked to be undercooked fish. Very disappointing all round. I said to the lady, “Keep the order & give it to someone else.” There was no way I was going to eat that garbage. I lost the money I paid other than for the Bunderburg Lemon & Lime, that they could not really get wrong. Complete waste of money & I have lost my faith in decent Fish & Chips in New Zealand altogether. “Frozen Chips!!!!” They should be ashamed of themselves in a dedicated Fish & Chip Shop. My advice…..Go to the Supermarket, buy a Fish & Chips TV Dinner style meal & heat it up in the microwave……It will be awful, but a MILLION times better than this place! If there is no where else available to eat than this place, get a packet of crisps from the Supermarket to keep you going until you can get something at least “reasonable” to eat. Totally avoid this place! They should apologize to their customers in advance before they serve them!
