I don’t normally send food back but honestly the food here was terrible.

We had a salmon entree with “broth” - it smelt like it was made from the fish food I feed my fish. I love fish and eat it daily but this was really horrible. It was served with raw soy beans. Why?

We also had the prawn entree… being in the Bay of Islands I would have thought that the prawns would have been fresh but they were frozen prawns that were served over a tin of four bean mix and some of that avocado in a tube you get from Woolies. Once again - why?

Lastly we had the pork belly entree. This wasn’t too bad. But there were two tiny thin slices of pork belly served with a mountain of lentils and also seeded mustard… so much mustard… why??

One thing I will say is that the martinis we had were decent and thankfully the serve of garlic bread was huge!

If you have a choice go somewhere else.
Needless to say we went to Jimmy Jack’s for dessert!

This was the most disappointing experience. Lovely young staff who served me well. They were truly accommodating my low carb request. I ordered the chicken with brussel sprouts (on the menu) with extra steam broccoli. When it arrived no brussel sprouts (apparently not in season though advertised) with baby corn (not asked for as higher carbs). Manager came over but not really understand low carb asking whether I wanted the polenta!?! He then avoided me for the meal & only the wonderful young staff came to me to check how I was (not the manager). When I came to pay the bill (where the main dish was taken off 🙏🙏🙏) with the manager I asked why he not checked on me? With this he raised his voice and not listen to me as a customer. He asked me to leave immediately. He did not seek payment. I would have paid for what I recieved, I informed him that I would be writing this review so he could report this matter to his boss before it became public.

Enjoyable evening overlooking the bay. The service was great and the fish & chips were lovely, the added bonus of lovely dressing and tartar sauce

Started in the Dock bar for happy hour drinks(!) and then took our place in the Aquarium restaurant which we had booked in advance. Not busy at 6pm but the restaurant gradually filled up. Excellent food and service - we had the chowder as a starter together with garlic bread followed by fish and chips - the John Dory was cooked to perfection. The location cannot be beaten and the high TA rating is well deserved; can highly recommend the experience.

Great location, excellent reasonably-priced food and attentive friendly service from Leoni, who went the extra mile in letting us know there was a slight hold up when a large group arrived unexpectedly. The aquarium a feature. Came back a few months later with a group ion 40 - wonderful food and service; staff went the extra mile to find our jazz trio room to play. Highly recommend; talk to Vinnie or Laine.
