During our three days in Paihia we focused on the restaurants on the waterfront. CBK proved to be the best of the lot with its varied menu, food quality, good service, and good value. I particularly enjoyed cooking my own meat on the hot rock that is brought to the table (Custom Grill). The coconut chilli lime mussels and mushroom fries were also favourites. The Skillet Cookie is an irresistable dessert, even for we folks who rarely eat dessert.

We are currently on a cruise with bottled Lagunitas the closest to craft beer so it was nice to come here and have a flight of 4 craft ales. A decent selection with good food as well. Service wasn’t the quickest and our person was new so wan’t able to tell us about the guest beer mentioned on the menu. But other than that we were pleasantly surprised by this bar. Great ocean views as well and decent value. The glasses in the flights were bigger than the we are used, which was nice!

The Seafood Bisque was amazingly delicious! It came with garlic bread and a finger bowl. The noise from the helicopter next door taking off and landing was annoying however. There is a good view of the harbour and boats .

Only in town for a few hours and we had 30mins to kill before our tour so popped in to order a round of beers. Tried to order beer at the bar but was told to go to our table (seemed good). Order taken and no sign of beers after 25mins. So with 5 mins to go before our tour, we went up to cancel our order …. But our order had been lost ….. any how…. We did try our best to give them our $$$$$

Food was great, the skillet cookie was absolutely delicious.
Service was great and food was very fresh.
Would recommend the smash burger
