The enclosures are large so the walk can be very long. A number of the exhibits are closed for maintenance and updating in June and there are now no lions or hippos. Check out the love bird exhibit - it’s really attractive.
There’s an extra charge for some exhibits that are hands on for the kids
And don’t get caught out by the photographers at the front gate as you exit. They will tell you that you can buy access to your photos on line for just $20 but you are unable to print them out and they have logos all through them - unable to be contacted either for refund or upgrade as it is an overseas company - total rip off

We tend to like the zoos that are on the smaller side. The Auckland Zoo fit our needs perfectly. I do have to say that the zoo had a lot of construction going on so we got sort of lost a couple of time when paths that seemed to go through on the map didn’t go through in real life.

We finally got to see a kiwi bird in their exhibit. They are not easy to find or see so we were glad to get at least a quick view of them. The red pandas were also a big hit.

We didn’t really like the zoo cafe. It was hard to figure out how to order, and we really didn’t like anything we ended up with.

A good tip...get a pass for the Auckland Explorer hop on/hop off bus tour. It takes you right to the zoo while also giving you a nice tour around the city.

Pretty small zoo, so animals didnt have that much place to live. Some parts fellt like a maze, was a bit hard to find everything we wanted. Buglab was a joke, stay talk to us to buy ticket for it too, nothing like they said about it, for kids who are interested in bugs would be nice place to learn, but for adults nothing special. For a future I would consern to have other restaurant or at least more vegetarien meal option.

I do not usually make adverse comment about worthy public spaces, particularly this zoo which I love .... however really....???? Who are you, the person managing this? Go out there and earn your salary please.

DO NOT use Darwin's cafe, the food is terrible - really disgusting.

Also massive amounts of earth works disrupting your visitor experience, without warning and without recognition in the entry price. And when Is Auckland going to get smart and have a one card to all facilities policy, why did I need one for MOTAT as well?

Otherwise new displays are working well - I think, all seems a bit of a muddle still. What about a zoo app?
