All That Glitters Is Not Gold

3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Jun 10, 2024
Tribe Hotel tries, but they still need a lot more practice before they can call themselves a professional hotel operation. It seems noone at front desk have been schooled in hospitality. You wont find a friendly conversion, no direct eye contact, instead you'll get vacuous odd stares when you ask for something simple like, "Where is the closest health food shop?" which is what I experienced. Noone on the floor knew the neighborhood very well. A couple of the night-time attendants were friendly (Anitia), particularly when I checked in quite late in the evening, but the daytime staff left me puzzled as to why they even considered working in the hospitality industry. It took a lot of friendly banter over the course of a few days to get them to open up. Now these rooms look great in the online pictures, but my room was a shoebox and I'm not exaggerating! The only thing that took up all the room was the bed. And it would take me exactly two steps from my bed to find myself in the bathroom shower! There was no room at all to put my luggage, nowhere to put the garbage - the only bin is in the bathroom and it's too small. No room to work on my laptop, so the bed became my desk. Everything revolved around the bed! lol... have guests over? here sit on my bed... It would be far more comfortable had I been a munchkin, or a leprechaun. Also, the walls are paper thin and you can hear others, even across the hallway. One entire wall of the room is a (dirty) window with the view of the park which was nice and the only thing from stopping me feeling claustrophobic. The view did make me feel like the experience was worth some value. The grab & go food offerings are dismal at best, and far too expensive. Upon check-in it was late and no restaurants were open so I got the paltry chicken sandwich, and there was a bone in it I could have choked on. Instead, walk down to Farmer Jack's in Subiaco and stock your minifridge with their ready-to-go salads. Would I stay here again? Probably not, I think an airbnb home would have been more exciting, and Quest Apartment Hotels rooms at three times the size of these ones more value for the money. Tribe should do some serious renovating and turn those shoeboxes into apartment-sized units. I would consider it again and pay more if they did that.

Location is good and the area is quiet. Convenient location for those visiting the Perth Children's Hospital. Bed is super comfortable which I looked forward to after long days. Room service was fast and convenient and the food was delicious. Only downfall is the rooms are very small. Will stay here again should I need to.

Loved every moment of our stay at the Tribe West Perth. The bed is super comfortable and the room had such a cosy feel to it.

As a Platinum Accor Plus member, we received a sweet welcome gift of wine, chocolates and a lovely note.

Staff in reception and the restaurant were very kind and helpful.

Will definitely stay again!

This would have been one of the tiniest rooms I've ever stayed in. There was very little room to move around in either the bedroom or the bathroom. That said, they have used the available space well for storing items like suitcases (the beds are high because there are nooks underneath for large suitcases). There are clever spaces in the bathroom, but really this room is suitable for a single traveller with limited luggage who just wants a bed for a night or two, not a couple. This is not a room that invites you to stay in it for any length of time. They say it's an 'edited hotel experience'- by that they mean they've cut out space!

We were from the country and needed somewhere to stay close to the hospitals. It wasn't until we were finding a street parking space (free from 6pm to 8am; very hard to get otherwise and the hotel only has 7 bays for an extra $30/night) that we saw a sign for a Holiday Inn nearby. If we had to do this again, I'd check them out as the rooms would have to be more like a standard hotel than this place.

I wouldn't stay here again - one night was enough.

Really small room and overpriced. I have never been in small rooms like this, the rates are the same as Westin Perth. The reception staff are unprofessional. Hats off to the cleaning staff god knows how they do it in this small area. They cant run the vacuum cleaners properly there.

Room tip: Stay away. The room suffocates as they are very small

Lobby is great. Cool vibe.

I’ll chalk it up to being a dumb American who doesn’t understand m2 sizes but the rooms are very tiny. Like New York City style tiny. The furnishings are nice but it lacks any space in the bathroom for your toiletries. Love the provided toiletries in the shower. But don’t stay in the shower too long. I was in for 10 mins and the drain was too slow and I started to flood that bathroom. No place to lay out your bag. Called reception never answered. All the desserts on the ordering app said the item was not valid. Boo. It’s my fav part of traveling for work!

If you’re ok with a tiny room, then the bed is firm and the pillows very soft.
