Last minute decision after a change from a major heatwave in Melbourne and decided to go local as we always enjoy supporting our local establishments. Booked easy and arrived to a smiling waitress who seated us in a few seconds. The table was dirty but in fairness the previous people had just left and the staff member was quick to return and clean our table with an apology. Ordered drinks and they were nice and cold and arrived quickly. For entree we had bruschetta & oysters kilpatrick and mains garlic prawns and sweet chilli prawns.
Well the bruschetta was supposed to be toasted but that was not the case and also lacked flavour & the oysters were mushy with clumps of bacon not even separated thrown on top and basically a lot of the bacon was raw. The plating of the dish was rushed in my opinion as the oyster shells were all but toppled over and the worcestershire sauce had basically run onto the plate (please note l rearranged for the photo). When we received our mains they presented well but again the lack of flavour was apparent. The salad and chips that accompanied the dish were generous serves. Now these were the same main dishes but different sauces, however on looking closer my garlic prawns were half the size of my husbands chilli prawns. I pointed this out to our smiling waitress who said she would pass this onto the kitchen. I did say to her that l may be wrong but l am sure the menu stated king prawns for both dishes and l was right it did. The decision to have dessert quickly left our taste buds as l didn't want to be disappointed on a third course.
When my husband paid the bill he was asked about the meal so he did explain what we thought. The hostess was extremely apologetic and did compensate a bit off the bill which was very nice but it's not about that for us. We would rather wait a bit of extra time as it was very busy and have our food cooked right and it just wasn't so l put blame on the chefs for that. I was so looking forward to dessert.
Overall the staff members are wonderful always smiling and attending to all tables fairly so l don't want to take this experience as l'm never going back again as the menu choices were plentiful and my eyes were wandering watching all the dishes (generous servings) going to other tables. The hostess explained they have a standard to uphold and l'm sure it is there so we will return to La Zanyas and hope our next visit is better.

We caught up with good friends at a pre-Christmas dinner at La Zamyas. There is plenty of choice on the menu. We started with a shared garlic pizza - recommended, simple but delicious. For mains two of chose Calamari, one chose risotto (which was so big our friend could not finish and I chose chicken schnitzel. All 4 of us enjoyed the meal and would happily return. Value for money is good and the service enthusiastic.

Spur of the moment decision to try this restaurant. Pasta was quite nice. Service was attentive and friendly. I found the strawberry crepe too sweet (heated strawberries swimming in about 1/4 cup of topping) and as soon as we mentioned it, they took it off the bill. Can't ask for more than that. Quite a noisy restaurant, despite carpet on the floor, so people with hearing issues may struggle.

On a cold winter night entering a crowded one would expect to be engulfed by warmth and comfort. Unfortunately that was far from the case here. Despite a lovely warm meal, we kept our coats on but had to shiver through the entire sitting. It was too cold to stay for dessert.
