Vamos delivers good food at a fair price and really tries hard to make the atmosphere special. They care young and ambitious and the results are outstanding. Delicious tapas for the romantic evening and I have even taken business clients there for dinner. They loved it.

This is a nice place to bring a date. In this instance, the music (a better than average latin jazz ensemble) was a little loud for comfortable dinner conversation - probably could have been a little more sensitive to the desires of people on Valentine's Day to converse...
The menu was set that night, and good value for money. The standout of he three starters was the gazpacho with cured egg yolk. The egg yolk gave a wonderful smoothness and body to the smooth style gazpacho. The second course was a winner front to back. The Salmon with avocado and leche de tigre was exquisite (although I never did find out what leche de tigre is) The accompanying charred cos salad was a surprisingly good taste and texture addition to the plate. The main was pork adobo with spring onions, served with a burnt carrot escabeche. Although I would have enjoyed a bit more spice, it was delicious, fork tender and well accompanied. The dessert was "churros, chocolate, strawberries and peanuts." I expected churros with the other stuff on the side, but was surprised that it was a constructed dish, with the warm churro on the the bottom, diced strawberries, a very smooth chocolate ice cream and crushed peanuts on top. As unexpected as it looked, the taste was even better... definitely "competition worthy"(said the MKR addict....)
All and all a lovely evening and wonderful menu, at a reasonable price.

Thank you so much for spending your Valentine's night with us - we're really glad you enjoyed your meal. We've actually just installed some echo absorbing panels on our walls and ceiling, making conversation a whole lot easier, so next time you come that won't be a problem :) Thanks again!

Me and my wife had high hopes of this restaurant as it was recommended as one of the best tapas restaurants in Melbourne. However the night ended in a dissapointment.

There vere serveral things which added on to this experience. Below follows a short review of a couple criteras which we think is important when dining. The criterias are the following: scenery, service, drinks & food. I’ll grade each item from 1 to 5, to fit the Tripadvisor scale.

Scenery: Quite ok, not really feeling the ”spanish/latin vibe”. The restaurant is really loud and sometimes it was difficult to have a conversation over the table. There was a ”girls night out” crew which was very loud and ruined some of the mood, that’s something the restaurant can’t be blamed for so I’ll let that slide. Overall a score of 2 out of 5.

Service: The waitors were very friendly, however in total the service was a disaster. We received or drinks quite quickly bit after that it all went downhill. We received our food randomly with no thought behind it, leaving some of the dishies cold. We orderd wine to the food but we had finished half of the meal before receiving the wine (asking for it twice). The overall feeling was that we weren’t prioritised. Score will be 1 of 5.

Drinks: We had a Mojito as a pre-drink and it was great. The Malbec wine was also quite tasty so no complaints there. Overall 4 out of 5.

Food: Now to the essence of the dinner, the food. We had six tapas dishes. Some were ok, for exempel the patatas fritas and the ”Tostados” and the Corn with feta cheese (plating were terrible though). The low watermark were the Pork Belly(overcooked)and the scallops (soggy) which both is quite technical dishes and tells you very much of the quality of the restaurant. Overall the food was a 2 of 5.

Total: 2 of 5

We gave the restaurant our feedback and they immediatly came to our table and listend. They offered a reduction on the price (removed the pork belly from the tab), gave us a free dessert, which was ok and offered us a complementary drink to the dessert. Since I enjoyed the wine I askes for another glass, but after we finished the dessert it still hadn’t show up so we gave up, paid and left.

Thank Anders B

This is a great place for a relaxed catch up with friends. The food is tasty and the cocktails don't disappoint. The $35 per head choices were more than we could eat. My only quibble was that the drinks were slow to arrive at one point, but the staff were apologetic and good humoured. I will definitely go back again.
