We like to start our time in new cities with bike tours because you can cover so much ground and see far better than on a bus or in a car. We booked online the day before. Matt was our guide, and he worked hard on a 90 degree day to make sure everyone was doing OK and to entertain and educate us. He was charming and funny, and there was a good balance of culture, history, sport, and political science. We laughed a lot, but there was plenty of substance. When we arrived at the lunch venue, at first I was disappointed because it was outside and I was craving a bit of air conditioning. But since it was the best meal I had in Australia, I soon forgot the climate issue! With it being so hot, Matt didn't rush the lunch at all. We had a leisurely lunch and got to know our fellow travelers. We all exchanged suggestions about the things we'd done in Australia. We also got to pump Matt for information about Melbourne activities. The bikes were in great shape, and the price couldn't be beat. This is a must for your first day in Melbourne!

Took the tour with Matt today and had a great time. The tour hit some interesting spots in Melbourne, including a great place for lunch(and drinks) in the hipster Fitzroy neighborhood, and a nice ride through the CBD to end a great day!

Matt was very knowledgeable and interesting to listen while he told some interesting stories to keep the historical stuff from being to dry.

Would definately do again!

This tour was recommended by fiends who are also locals. We took it as a group of 6 with 2 friends from Canada. Matt was our guide and he was great - knowledgeable, friendly and accommodating. Tour was just over 4.5 hours (because we dawdled a little over lunch!). There was lots of historical detail on original Aboriginal history and settlement as well as European. It is a good intro for visitors so that they can then go back and do places in more detail that they wish to explore further. The lunch stop was fantastic (and new to us). Definitely recommended. Good bikes, easy gears, generally a flat course too, so OK for all ages and fitness levels. Our group was aged between 54 and 74.

Had a really great time touring Melbourne with Freddy's. Their bikes were comfortable and good quality. Dave our guide was very friendly and knowledge about Melbourne's history and sites. Stopped for an excellent lunch and a few drinks in a very quirky Fitzroy cafe. I highly recommend their 4 hour tour for a unique way to experience Melbourne, whether you are a local or visitor.

This excellent tour was conducted by Reece during our visit to Freddy's Bike Tours and it was such an enjoyable experience. What sets a tour apart is the guide and Reece a doctorate student of psychology was incredibly open, personable, friendly and knowledgeable. I took the tour with my girlfriend who grew up in Melbourne and even she learned so much about Melbourne's history from Reece.

It was quite an eye-opening experience cycling through the city and small alleys, watching and absorbing the many characters that make Melbourne such a vibrant city.

I'd definitely recommend taking this tour if you enjoy learning about the city, and it's a fun activity to do with your friends, family or partner.

Remember to bring along a bottle of water and awesome peddling energy!
