There isn't a better way to fill in your morning than visiting the historic Salamanca Market. It is an easy stroll from the harbour and CBD or quick drive from inner suburbs of Hobart. The huge variety of stalls gives you a taste of what Tasmania has to offer in regards to fresh produce, wine and spirits, crafts, art and whatever else you might be looking for. If you visit Hobart, you must visit the Salamanca Market.

There is so much to see at this market. Many people make beautiful handmade things just for the Salamanca. We had a great morning and lunch and the Salamanca Market provided a great experience for us.

Aside from meeting the lovely Henry from MKR at his family’s truffle stand, this market has sooo much to offer. From local artists to fudge and countless local Gin tastings, there is not much that this market doesn’t showcase. The place was packed with tourists and locals alike. With an atmosphere that is chilled and beautiful sea-side surroundings, any visitor to Hobart should not miss the Salamanca Market..Ps: I used Henry’s truffle salt on hot chips... so delicious

Great place to sample local produce, hang out for the day, and people watch. Watch out for the house of fudge and the ginger ale stalls. Although the sausages and bratwursts smell amazing, they weren’t as tasty as things like the pies.

Easy to find & an easy walk from the cruise terminal or the city centre.
Lots of stalls full of local crafts & fresh food vans....crowded but well worth a visit.
Plenty of woodworking artisans & lovely woollen crafts to choose from if searching for that perfect Tasmanian gift!
