My husband and I stayed here many times when it was the Hyatt. We always enjoyed the offerings and the ambience in the Club Lounge. We paid for a Club room this time also, not realising that things had changed so dramatically. The lounge is closed due to Covid restrictions and the afternoon tea and evening drinks and canapés are now served in what used to be Blake’s restaurant. It’s a bit sad but beyond their control. Afternoon tea was served like a “high tea”, a small plate of savouries and a serve of scones, jam and cream. This was quite nice, although we didn’t eat much of it because we were going out for dinner fairly early. I can’t comment on the canapés because we didn’t have them. We did have breakfast, which is now served in the Riverside restaurant. This was a bit disappointing. Our eggs Benedict were cold.
Our room was just as we expected. Quite large, lovely bathroom with toiletries, as usual. We were surprised to see nothing in the bar fridge, not even a bottle of water? This may also have something to do with Covid? There was no room service menu, not even on the tv?
Last but not least, there was no USB port to charge my phone. This was very surprising and quite disappointing.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay but wouldn’t bother with the club lounge room next time. More
