One of my go to places for a cheap, cheerful & tasty lunch. Dumplings are always good. Limited seating but worth the wait

Excellent food quality and price is very reasonable for either solo or with a family visit.
Staff are very friendly and welcoming !!
The Noosa Everglades BBQ Lunch Cruise people picked us up from our motel and delivered us to the jetty. There were two boats, travelling up the Noosa River, across Lake Catharaba, and into the Everglades section of the river. An option (which we didn't take) was to paddle canoes from the morning tea stop to the lunch stop. Canoists from one boat paddled up the river, while canoists from the other boat paddled down river on the return trip.
In the sections of the river where the boats could travel at some speed, the front door was kept closed, but wherever we went slowly it was opened and passengers were encouraged to take a turn out the front of the boat.
Our boat driver, Heini (who hails from Sth Africa) was entertaining and obliging. He kept a lookout for the sea eagles and other similar birds, coming to a stop when he spotted them so that the passengers could get a good look, and take their photos. On our return he thanked us for being such an easy-going crowd. Well, it was very easy to be "easy going" with someone like Heini.
The whole day was extremely well organised. Fruit cake and Anzac biscuits for morning tea, together with a choice of tea, coffee or cordial. While we waited for lunch to be served there was time for those so inclined to go for a swim. When we confirmed our booking as requested, we were asked whether we would like fish (barramundi) or steak for our lunch. This was served with some great, fresh, salads. plus bread and butter. Cordial and fruit juice were also supplied.
Heini told us the other boat drew more water than the one we were on, and as Lake Cootharaba is extremely shallow, there were times when the passengers had to get out and push. All adds to the fun. The water depth on the lake is determined by the wind, not the tide.
On our return the bus was waiting to take us back to our motel. A most relaxing day.
