Hidden greatness, cafe & wine bar, recommend the big breakfast,
Such friendly staff, awesome service & fantastic food. I wouldn’t go anywhere else.
We wouldn't want you going anywhere else.
Cool spot in the city for a nice cold craft beer and something to eat. Or a good spot to waste some time sipping a delicious beverage and listening to some music
We pride ourselves on having awesome craft beer and killer tunes!
Definitely out of the way and soooo worth disappearing down the lane - you may not want to come out for a while! At first view, all you see is a few outdoor tables and chairs. Around the next corner is the small, incredibly efficient kitchen, that pumps out an astonishing nubmer of meals. It's at this stage you realise you've truly found something special.
Far more than a coffe shop, this place has a full bar setup. I worked at the Pancake Manor last century (coz I'm old) and despite the difference in decor, I was really reminded of the buzz I used to feel when working there. Staff are young and the atmosphere is casual. Patrons range from sleek to geek and there is no pretentiousness anywhere. Brew seemed eternally busy for the whole time we were there.
The lighting is low and there are no windows whatsoever. It would be easy to lose track of time, whiling the afternoon away with a coffe or other favourite beverage from the bar. I would love to come back on a Friday night to see how the atmosphere changes.
We dropped in for lunch. I have to say it was a tough decision, there being so many cool things on the menu. We had a bit of a laugh along the way - the pasta of the day was written in such a way that nobody but the writer knew exactly what it was. We weren't keen for pasta, so it didn't matter.
I decided on a Captain Planet Burger, wanting to see whether a vegan burger could deliver on taste. Boom! So much flavour.
With a serving of incredibly crisp sweet potato fries, you need to be hungry to finish it off. The fries come with a kewpie mayonaise dip that made the fries insanely good. The burger is well constructed with the right amount of bun so it feels good to eat with both hands. Whilst an avowed carnivore, I could happily substitue this burger any time I needed a good-sized tasty meal.
Other meals ordered at the table were the Chicken Teriyaki burger and some BFC nuggets. The Teriyaki Burger again, was a large meal with the fries. So big in fact, that we had to leave a lot of the fries behind. The nuggets were plentiful but a little oily for our liking - needed a little more draining perhaps? There's so many other things on the menu that you may only ever order them for a finicky eater.
We did order coffees, which were on par for good Brisbane baristas. But this visit was about the food. And on that front, this place rocks.
Good Morning Chris thank you for the fantastic review, its great to hear you enjoy Brew as much as we do. Hope to see you down here on a Friday night as it certainly is a different atmosphere to lunch.
Cheers

Shrouded in mystery, this lovely bar/cafe/coffee house is almost Melbournesque.
Down a lane, through a hidden foot and another corridor you enter this bar with good coffee, great food and wonderful service (which can be a bit challenging at times)
I had a soy latte and a burger with fries, perfectly done. The beer selection is also great!
The best places are always hidden! Looking forward to seeing you again at Brew!
