My family has stayed in this hotel many times. We’ve always loved it. It’s an awesome location and the staff have always been lovely.

I can only think they have changed owners because on our most recent stay whilst the location is still awesome unfortunately the service is not.

They provided two towels for my family of four and then were wanting to charge me for the other two I requested. They wouldn’t park our car and rang us up at 11 pm to take it to a car park somewhere else (after we had already gone to bed). A few other things as well - perhaps petty to some but adds up to not awesome value for us.

Very sad to say we won’t be going back. Was good while it lasted.

Booked with them direct to get a two-bedroom suite and Wifi. Finding the parking was a bit tricky since the gate is off a one-way street and doesn't look like an entrance to a hotel car park. They have very limited parking (and use hydraulic double-deckers to double on-site parking) and we got the last spot early in the afternoon. Also, there is no self-parking on account of the machinery.

The staff was really friendly and helpful. Our suite featured two bedrooms and a pullout bed. The rooms were reasonably quiet and we slept just fine. The location downtown is great if you want to be in the thick of things and the area reminded me somewhat of Miami with a mix of seedy, premium, and everything in between, bustling with activity.

The cafe downstairs is pretty much only al-fresco, but they provide blankets and heaters. The staff there too were very friendly and I highly recommend the place for breakfast or coffee. So why then only three stars? As others have noted, there are improvement opportunities and our experience was no different.

The wall-to-wall carpeting in our "living room" featured multiple prominent black stains in the floor. The bedding was clean, however, as was the rest of the apartment. The bathroom appears to have been renovated recently (movement sensor triggers night light) yet still features a worn-out fisher paykel clothes washer (awful wash quality) and a similarly dilapidated dryer. While they may not have been very effective, at least they did go through the motions and the wash powder was free.

Also, the bathroom had more available power outlets than the rest of the suite. Can't say I thought it was a good idea to recharge my computer, LiON camera batteries, etc. next to the sink but it was the sole place with lots of outlets. For $250+/night you can likely stay in more modern 2-bedroom suites, just not in the heart Brisbane. I'd rate this place 3.5 stars if I could to reflect the efforts of staff vs. the condition of the room.

Location can’t be beaten, central to everything with loads of dinning choices nearby.
Rooms are very big and I liked the old fashioned decor. Very quiet - no noise at all despite being on a busy street. Heating/ cooling worked really well and easy to adjust. Good choice of toiletries and lovely big shower head. Bed comfortable. Plenty of sockets for charging accessories. Handy kitchenette. Good selection of Foxtel channels
Stayed a week and got free wifi but it was slow.
Cafe Mondial at the hotel entrance was excellent - both food and service. Room service breakfast a little pricey.

Beautiful old world style charm but beautifully appointed. We had a one bedroom apartment which was very spacious. The double glazing ensured it was so quiet even though it is located right in the centre of brisbane. Great location-close to everything with queen st mall one block & short walk away. Reasonable price & friendly staff. Will definitely stay here again & recommend to friends.

We have stayed at this hotel regularly over the last 7 or 8 years and am sad to say that last weekend was the last. The hotel had gone downhill suddenly since our last stay a few months ago.
We have parked at the hotel at least a dozen times with our current vehicle but last weekend were told that we need to park in the Myer centre as our car is too big.
We were only given 2 towels for both days of our stay, room was booked for 4 people. On the second day when we requested more towels we were advised that we may need to be charged for them.
The AC controls have been changed and now cannot be changed below 21.5 which for some reason is so hot we had to sleep without sheets or blankets on in winter.
Even the nice little touches like the paper at your door in the morning and the notepad and pen in the room have been stopped.
The staff try to be helpful but have nothing on the professionalism or friendliness of previous staff.

A big disappointment for what once was a great place to stay.
