When you arrive here you are welcome by some very friendly porters at the front door as soon as you leave your bus. A big shout out to Danny the port who every time you looked at him had the biggest most genuine smile you ever expect to see on any one person going about his work. Thank you Danny for all of your assistance

Room tip: All good we had ground floor as this is what suited us best

We booked our 3 night stay here in June last year and after 6 solid days of driving, with only overnight stays, we were looking forward to seeing Uluru and relaxing at Sails Resort. The young Englishman man who came to take our bags when we pulled up was friendly and helpful, even put our water in fridge for us, a great start. Lobby was appealing and bright.
Reception and book in was Good, room 105. Room 105 is a disabled room. It is the room behind the large green tank, so no outlook and on the end of the row so everyone walks past and just under the laundry, no privacy. WORST ROOM in the hotel I would think. We did ask to change but we’re informed no other rooms available, so much for booking ahead for a nice room.

Stephanie looked after us in the bar area and could not have been nicer, she put a smile on our faces but be aware light meals cease at 17.30 only tapas after that or a full buffet meal in the restaurant-nothing in between unless we walked to Town Square, about 5minutes and raining the night we arrived.

First morning housekeeping came knocking at 8.30am, surely there were other rooms checking out could be done first-after all our driving we looked forward to a lazy start. Breakfast seems a shamble, the staff were lovely and did their best but we waited for well over half an hour for our breakfast to be cooked after arrival at the restaurant, we ordered cappuccino but cancelled as they still did not arrive, all seems like organised chaos.

More disappointment-Field of lights cancelled due to bad weather, nothing can be done there, we just have to tackle travel agent for refund.
Being able to stay so close to The Rock and The Olgas was wonderful and overall very comfortable. The staff were great, very obliging, Mariah in reception was lovely, I could not get everyone’s names but they were all fantastic, including room service girls.
For us it was a once only experience, looked forward to for a long time and while I realise the cost of bringing everything in would be expensive, I felt everything priced for a captive audience, only the staff improved my rating.

Staff were friendly, professional and hard working as the hotel is clearly understaffed due to COVID challenges.
Update of the hotel evident in modern bathrooms and furnishings.
Pool well maintained although could have done with more lounge chairs.
Frustrations with the only dinner option being the buffet. Meals at the bar stopped at 5.30pm to push people to more expensive buffet option but with COVID that was booked out quickly which meant going to the only other venue open for dinner in Yulara (Geckos bar/bistro). Why push people to a different venue when we would have happily stayed in-house.
Not 5 star compared with capital city hotels but would definitely stay there again.

I had always wanted to go to Uluru, finally got there after not being able to travel in 2020. Hotel was fantastic with credit, rebooking etc due to Covid.
Expensive trip for 4 days but was worth it for the experience. I was lucky as I got upgraded to Sails in the Desert for half the price, and credit to use at all restaurants/bars. I would not have paid the full price I don’t think, as I originally had Emu walk apartments. I think it is more like a 4 star hotel.

We had a wonderful 5 night stay at Sails in the desert. The room was lovely and the bathroom was a highlight, fantastic ammenities.
The breakfast buffet was very disappointing especially for the $45 cost, way below expectations. However the dinner buffet at $77 was great, good variety and fresh.
The service team went above and beyond to welcome us and we were very well looked after. Check in and check out was seamless and the f&b staff were attentive.
Room service, however, was a bit ordinary, both is quality of food and service.
We loved the resort activities, the cooking presentation and indigenous talks by Leo and Dwayne and his didgeridoo lessons.
The gecko cafe was disappointing for dinner - the food was inedible - maybe it was just too busy with not enough staff due to Covid. But breakfast there was surprisingly good, a nice surprise.
The training cafe was great and we ate there most afternoons.

Overall we really enjoyed what Ayres Rock resort had to offer and the accommodation at Sails in the desert was a wonderful experience. I would not hesitate in recommending sails in the desert to any one.
