After a flight from Perth and a bit of spare time before a 3 day outback adventure, we took the "A Town Like Alice: Half-Day Tour of Alice" and we were so glad that we did. Our driver (sorry, can't remember your name) collected us from our hotel as scheduled and took us to visit: the Telegraph Station which gave us an insight into the challenges the first European settlers to Alice Springs had to overcome when they set up the station which relayed messages between Darwin and Adelaide for 60 years; the Royal Flying Doctors and the School of the Air which delivers education to children in the outback, both of which operate to this day and the Reptile Centre, with the largest reptile display in the Northern Territory where we got up close to snakes, lizards and a salt water crocodile! The day ended with a perfectly timed visit to Anzac Hill to watch a glorious sunset from the lookout which offers a panoramic view of Alice Springs and the beautiful surrounding ranges. All in all, a brilliant afternoon provided by our very patient and knowledgeable tour guide whose name unfortunately we can't remember but we do know he drove us on the 14th September. So many thanks to you, sir from Christine & Tony Harris
