This is a lovely bar, with log fire, bar and restaurant and out door area. Kids play area and fantastic views.
Food is very tasty and prices very good for what you get.

Thank ColonelBlake

We were staying at Slaley Hall and popped in on our arrival day for lunch. Hubby had the fish and chips and I had the prawn baguette - both were lovely. Bar staff were very friendly, and we therefore decided to go back the next evening for dinner - again another great meal. Recommend you try it too!

From the second me and my partner walked in to the second we walked out the service was fantastic, and the food simply added to the experience!

The nicest place we have been in a long time. We cannot recommend it enough and intend to return again when we next visit the area.

I had treated my husband to a golf lesson at Slaley Hall but chose not to stay there as it was a tad expensive and prefer a more intimate, cosy establishment (Not saying that Slaley Hall isn't just not to our taste). On searching for B&B's not too far from the hall I stumbled across The Rose & Crown and was just what I was looking for, somewhere we could have a good drink, with good food whilst meeting the locals and hearing their tales and stories from the area........well they didn't disappoint!! We were welcomed in from the blizzard by Susie, the barmaid, and quickly got warmed up by the roaring fire, the bar area was atypical of a country pub, small but not cramped and nicely decorated. Two local gents welcomed us and talked to us as if we were long lost friends, making us feel right at home! I had booked a room as a surprise for my husband and had emailed ahead to ask if they could make it extra special.....being greeted by a bottle of prosecco in the room was the icing on the cake and definitely made our stay that bit more special (thank you to whoever arranged it). The hours flew past, talking and laughing with the staff and locals, that it was tea time before we knew it! The regular menu itself was fanastic, offering an array of locally sourced ingredients, but we were treated to an amazing Irish themed specials board too with it being St Patricks day! We opted for Gammon and steak off the regular menu, which arrived steaming hot and piled high, cooked to perfection and the chips (hand cut and like door wedges) were just truly scrumptious! We finished the night off drinking and joining a local couple in the pub quiz.....very well organised and a good laugh....we even won (no thanks to me!). The bar offered a huge variety of drinks both soft and alcoholic and some beautiful flavoured gins! Our double room was lovely with an amazingly comfortable bed, evidently with magic pillows as my husband didn't snore once! The room was very well equipped, with tv, kettle with tea and coffee and tasty biscuits, hairdryer and complimentary toiletries. We were asked the previous evening what time we would like breakfast and what we would like, we both opted for a full english and we were informed that it would be served just along from our room, which was perfect as it meant that I didn't have to make too much "effort" for breakfast and saved braving the arctic conditions outside! Breakfast was just as tasty as our evening meal and not a bean was left!! We left in the middle of a huge snow storm and had it not been for the fact that we were desperate to get home to our two little girls we could have easily been "stuck" there for another night or two! Can't recommend The Rose & Crown more highly and we will definitely be back and taking the family this time!!
