Stayed 3 nights in the new wing of this hotel. Located off the Talaimannar road it’s about 8km from the Mannar town. If you’re travelling by train the train station is right beside the hotel. However the Talaimannar railway line is still under construction (06/02/13) but something to look forward for the budget traveler. At the moment staying here without your own mode of transport would be a problem.

The main building has air con rooms. The new wing which is located little bit away from the main building has rooms with fans. Rooms were not so large but felt it was just right. I hear the main building rooms are much larger.

Mr Lawrence the owner is a very friendly person and he is very knowledgeable about the birdlife around Mannar. If he is not busy he would join to take you to some interesting birding sites around the area. The staff is also friendly and helpful.

Seafood is great at Four Tee’s and cheap also. If you’re doing an early morning birding round they will arrange packed breakfast on request. Quite flexible according to your time schedules.

Best budget accommodation that you could find in Mannar for sure.

I stayed at fourtess hotel in mannar from 26th december to 29th december. I had a very bad experience at my previous day hotel, so was in a bad mood when i arrived at four teess. And the outward look of this place is also quite deceiving as it was not very impressive. However we were greeted by our hotel manager mr.lawrence, with his broad smile. And he only took like few minutes to give us our rooms. Which was quite impressive. I was happy to see the rooms were extremly clean and though they were small. They had
a small staff, and they work very hard to make your stay a pleasant one. The most wonderful thing about this place is food. You dont have much of a choice here but the seafood dishes they do are great. And also cheap
For an example a full rice and curry meal with crab would only cost like 300rupees. My stah at this place was great. This is simply the best place to stay in Mannar.

Room tip: Ask for a room from the new wing. And remember to bring your own amenities. And some mosquitoe coils.

We spent one night of our self drive trip to the north here and had a lot of laughs getting lost and exploring the surrounding region. I wouldn't attempt staying here without transport as it would end up being very expensive, although that may change marginally with the new Talaimannar railway line which was being built very close by.
Lawrence the owner was charming and helpful. He is an expert of all the ins and outs of the region and helped us with directions and info on excursions to Adams bridge, the boabab tree, mannar fort, bird life etc.
Everything here was on a grand scale, the rooms huge, the dining room massive and the fabulous meals even bigger! All in all a fun and characterful stay.

Stayed 2 nights on tour at Four Tees. Mr Lawrence, the owner seemed an amiable man. The cook and boys who served were polite and willing to please.

We took the family room, inside the main house. Its a large room with 3 single rooms, air conditioning, polished floors, a desk and chair, tiny dressing table and attached toilet. The tiles in the toilet, commode and seat needed scrubbing, which was done at our request.

The "new wing" is a little way from the main building and the rooms were small and stuffy. No air con.

There is a large garden with a few fruit trees. The food was basic but adequate.

The Talaimannar Railway Line (under construction) runs right beside their boundary wall.

Room tip: Get the family room!

The hotel has quiet clean rooms and the service, specially the food is excellent. Altough you need your own transport as it is about 7 kilometres away from the city it is definetely recommendet. We had troubles with our motorbike and the owner went with us to the mechanic and helped us to translate. Great!
