We decided to try diving for the first time so went for the Discover Scuba course. Despite us arriving a little late due to traffic, Kevin and Lindsay were wonderful throughout - helpful, instructive and really enthusiastic. We had a brilliant morning diving for the first time, so much so, we decided to go back for two more dives later in the week! Cannot recommend enough - a truly great experience.
This is the first time I’ve ever been diving and can assure you after this experience it won’t be the last. Kevin and Lindsey are so comforting that reassuring it doesn’t take long to shake the nerves off. I would highly recommend anyone visiting Malta to pop down and get booked in with Go Dive. They honestly are so approachable and patient whilst you’re getting to grips with everything. Would like to say a massive thank you for the experience they gave me that day, one I will never forget.
Thank you
Dale 👌🏻
There really aren't enough stars to rate my experience with Go Dive, and I truly mean that.
To set the scene... I am in an upcoming documentary called No Roses On A Sailor's Grave, about a promise I made to find my 93 year old friend Patrick's Second World War shipwreck in Normandy. When I made that promise I had never scuba dived in my life and knew I would need to learn in order to find the wreck and complete the promise and of course, the film. I did my open water course in England with another agency, with my dives undertaken in a cold quarry in England back in November. I enjoyed it a lot but a month later did a few dives with a guide that really knocked my confidence (impatient, big headed, uninterested, unhelpful, didn't want to be there - everything you don't want from a dive guide) and left me questioning whether I would be able to complete the dive expedition in conditions as bad as the English Channel.
With the expedition in April 2018 I knew I needed to get my dive numbers up so decided to go to Malta. I figured if I was going to do a few days diving I might as well do my Advanced Open Water course at the same time.
From the moment I met Kevin and Lindsey (who unlike a few other dive schools in Malta had taken the time to email me booking confirmation, health forms, fish I might see on the trip etc despite being on their on holiday at the time of booking) their service went above and beyond. They had taken the time to watch the trailer for the documentary, which meant a lot, and Kevin upon picking me up from the hotel explained that he had planned to arrange the course to be as helpful in finding the ship as possible. This meant doing the PADI modules 'search and recovery' 'navigation' 'wreck dive' and 'deep dive'. This attention to detail rather than just knocking through the easiest modules was hugely appreciated and set the tone for the rest of the week.
Kevin and Lindsey are both so clearly passionate about diving that it becomes infectious and by the end of my time with them I finally felt like i'd caught the 'dive bug' rather than just learning to take part in the documentary. As it was February, and the quiet season, I was lucky to have all of my course consisting of just myself and Kevin. Each drive to the dive site was a mini tour of Malta with Kevin and Lindsey pointing out things to see and giving little bits of information about the places and sites we were passing or reaching. Kevin's temperament is incredibly patient, relaxed and calming which helped me immensely. Before Malta I had done 7 dives, all in a lake. This was my first time in the sea, with current, and having a guide who was all of the above but at the same time totally serious about the task at hand and the safety of those involved gave me the confidence to jump in each time. I came out at the end of each dive of the course feeling more confident and more positive each time.
i enjoyed diving with Go Dive so much that I asked to book two more dives to finish the week off. Kevin and Lindsey chose for us to dive HMS Maori, the WW2 Destroyer, as it is of a similar depth, condition and age as the wreck i'm currently looking for. It was an incredible experience and a perfect way to end my time in Malta.
Kevin and Lindsey clearly felt passionate about my own project and the documentary and very kindly offered to film the dive on HMS Maori so that we had some footage of me learning to dive for the film, with their own camera and at no extra charge.
Of course, it was a quiet week so I was lucky to have one on one lessons with Kevin. Likewise, my documentary project is a special situation and Go Dive can't film everyone's dives (no doubt they would if they could!) or they'd end up running a media business. I was very lucky, but the fact that they did do it for me sums up the huge way in which Kevin and Lindsey go above and beyond to help their customers.
I want to give a huge thanks to Kevin and Lindsey at Go Dive for really making a trip I was unsure about so incredibly enjoyable. My time in your hands boosted both my confidence and skill in diving, and my belief that I can go out on the dive expedition in April to bring a 73 year old shipwreck mystery to a close.
I look forward to coming back!
Thanks very much for a wonderful experience Kevin and Lynsey. Really made the family feel comfortable for first time divers, and made the whole day fun. Great and professional from start to end.
Highly recommended
I decided i needed a good bit of sun over a very cloudy winter so I spent a week in Malta! I contacted Lindsey and Kevin a bit before I arrived to find out if I would be able to give during this time of the year. Their response was quick and good news!
Kevin took me through my open water diver certification step by step and really made me feel made for it!
It's very rare to meet people who make you so passionate about their jobs as these 2. Each day there were new and amazing adventures and their responsiveness was out of this world!
I am so glad that I took my first Padi steps with go dive Malta, and that I did it in the winter!
Thanks a million guys!
I've just finished 4 days diving with Rich and Lyndsey and it was the highlight of my time spent in Malta. They really go that extra mile to ensure a safe and stunning diving experience. Despite it being November and unpredictable weather they managed the diving so it was possible for me, a single diver, to dive across the 3 Islands; Malta, Gozo and Comino. I let them choose the dive sites for me as their knowledge of where and when is far greater than mine. I was not disappointed in the least. Thanks to you both for a great experience.
