We visited Bishnupur on 21 Jan 2017 (Saturday) from Kolkata and we visited this temple as the first one. This temple is situated on a different part than the most of other temples situated like Raasmancha, Jorbangla temple etc.
Lord Radha Keishna is worshipped in this temple till date and you can give puja, provided the temple is open. Just outside the temple, there are lot many shops selling terracota items like Horshes, Idols etc. The temple is big enough, spread out and have terracota design carvings on the walls. Esoecially see the delicate designes carved near the corners of the temple. Another fact to tell you- just outside the temple there is a big tree whose trunk has a formation and people have put vermilion on it to give it a face of lord Ganesha.

This temple,I am surprised, hasn't been reviewed here earlier. People confuse this with the Madan Gopal temple. The two are poles apart in terms of distance as well as detailed terracotta work adorning their walls.
This particular temple is the gem of Bishnupur town along with Shyam rai temple. This is also a 'live' temple meaning there is Lord Madan Mohan, the presiding deity inside the temple, whose puja is offered daily. We met the priests who does offer puja daily. There is an adjoining kitchen, located inside the temple courtyard (see my accompanying pictures ) where Bhog is cooked and offered to the Lord.
This is the very same deity that saved Bishnupur town from the external enemy attack by Bhaskar Rao,by firing the grand Dalmadal cannon.

The intricate and detailed terracotta works on most of this temple's walls are awesome and mind-blowing. The works mostly depict incidences from the two epics of Mahabharata and Ramayana. Some Muslim influences on the work of art will also get noticed. In my opinion, this is the best temple to study and admire the fascinating terracotta works of Bishnupur.

I will post lots of pictures of this attraction, once this review is up on TA

There is also another confusion prevailing on TA. There is a Madan Mohan temple in Kolkata, where the presiding deity is sam as the deity here. The original Lord Madan Mohan was carried to the Kolkata temple and a replica is kept here and puja is still offered daily,in Bishnupur temple.

This is a must see temple in Bishnupur town of Bankura

First of all let me tell you that this is not at all a touristy place. The temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna. The temple has a nice feel overall.

Even the flute of the deity is made of gold. But compared to the amount of gold inside the temple, it is not that much restricted for visitors. Unlike other temples nearby, tourists can enter to see the deity easily.
