Everybody in the hotel were helpful. There's a beatiful view to Dachstein mountain. The best place to recharge in a quite place. There's a room garage with a lot of places. Also you can pack your car next to the houses. You can find here a lake for fishing and place for the kids to play. There are many opportunities for hiking and mountain climbing in the area. With the free summer card you can relax in some of the nearby spa or swimming location. The card can be used also for playing minigolf or visit museum and a lot of other things. We have halfboard paid. The breakfast were good: you can eat fried eggs, ham, vegetables, yoghurt, salami and a great variety of meals. The dinner were the most delicious I have ever eaten in a restaurant.

Very good and fast check in. Hotel staff is flexible, friendly and helpful. Hotel also offers "SommerCard Schaldming-Dachstein" in a room price. If you travel a lot with your family and want to see beautiful places in this region this card will help you to save a lot of money for different kinds of attractions.

Hotel is situated approx. 8 km from Schladming and 2-3 km from main road. The road to the Almwelt is a typical Austrian mountain road with plenty of curves and sometimes high slopes. If you travel for the first time be careful on your brakes and animals (cows) which can go to the pasture. For me it was 10-th time in Austria so it was normal experience. You have to get used to driving in that conditions.

Rooms are made of timber and are very clean. Bathroom is well equipped with bathrobes and slippers for wellness. In rooms there is a free WiFi and safe in which you can store your cash, cards or other belongings. Room is cleaned every day. There is a separate WC to have a comfort of using it.

Breakfast is quite good with fresh local products. During the breakfast as always in Austria (in good hotels) you choose your main dish for the supper (there is always one vegetarian). You can also order good local beverages as beer, wine or digestive. There also is a special kids menu. All courses are served in very elegant style, especially desserts.

Wellness is situated in a separate building you can go there with underground connection. There are four saunas; one (Finnish) with a marvellous view on Dachstein. There also is a silent room with beds and sunbeds where you can rest and e.g. read a magazine, a book or of course browse with your smartphone.

Your car can be parked near you Chalet-House or in a garage (for free).
This Hotel or rather village also is a perfect place for wedding. In that scenery and view every bride will tell “Yes, I do” ;-). During my stay there was a one wedding and they looked very happy ;-).

I would definitely go there once again. I like that style.

Room tip: If you travel with friends book one of the "Chalets-Houses". If you travel with family chose a room in "Jagdhaus" (Hotel)

Just returned from Austria. The Almwelt is a lovely hotel with friendly staff. We had a ground floor room in the Jagdhaus annexe. It was really big with very comfortable beds and sofa and huge bathroom and separate loo. A short walk to the ski room and can see the slopes just outside (literally about 10 paces). We had no walking in ski boots or carrying skis for the whole week. The Spa is fantastic (accessed through the underground walkway in your provided robes/slippers) there are 2 saunas a steam room and upstairs fantastic mountain views while you rest with your healthy water or fruit tea. Restaurant is spacious and quiet and the food is lovely. Breakfast is a buffet style with cereals, yogurts, fruit, breads, ham, cheese and boiled eggs. If you ask the staff for scrambled or fried eggs with ham or bacon it is freshly cooked and brought to your table (no extra charge). There is a bar but no lounge area and therefore after dinner there's literally nothing to do unless you have a car to go to Schladming or 25 euros each way for a taxi. Glad we brought books. The skiing in this resort is fantastic. All well linked up and mainly tree-lined long runs with good lifts. Just one criticism of the signposts being so small and not in evidence much although large ski maps are all around. We will definitely going back!

Room tip: Ground floor rooms have easy access to everything but upper floors have the views.

We stayed in one of the S/C chalets in Jan 2016. They are fantastic, very spacious, well equipped with wonderful wellness room including full sauna, hot tub and monsoon shower. Modern, alpine decor. Ski in/out but need to be competent on reds or you may be stuck! A 9am once a day free taxi down to lift is provided but you can be quite isolated on the mountain side. However there is a hotel restaurant, separate apres bar and the views are stunning. You do need to take some provisions with you as you need to take a taxi journey to Schladming to get supplies (25mins journey). Would recommend chalet for groups and couples the hotel (which looked wonderful).

Just returned from this little Austrian Gem of a Hotel - Situated up the mountain right on the Piste 2a (Red) in Reiteralm. We had room 203 which is in the annexe accessed by an underground walkway or overground - Rooms are large and very well equipped with comfy beds etc - Piste literally ran underneath our window - as did the piste bashers at night which was great to watch - They also have detached timber lodges for rent.

There is a lovely spa, again accessed via and under Piste walkway that is situated on the edge of the piste opposite the hotel. Great to sit and watch the end of day skiing carnage :-) - The food was plentiful, if somewhat unusual on some nights - Breakfast was lovely but the only hot offering was a boiled egg but didn't bother us much as there was so much else to choose from.

The owner didn't speak much english but made a point of asking us how our day had been everyday. His staff were mostly young but very efficient and very very friendly. No expense has been spared with this place - It really is lovely.

Schladming is an amazing ski area. Something for everyone.

One point to note - The slopes down to the gondola are serious reds - That's the only way down - So if you can confidently ski reds then I can't recommend this place highly enough - travelled with Crystal Ski and trip and transfers were well organised.

Room tip: Room 203 overlooks the Piste
