We stayed in one of the S/C chalets in Jan 2016. They are fantastic, very spacious, well equipped with wonderful wellness room including full sauna, hot tub and monsoon shower. Modern, alpine decor. Ski in/out but need to be competent on reds or you may be stuck! A 9am once a day free taxi down to lift is provided but you can be quite isolated on the mountain side. However there is a hotel restaurant, separate apres bar and the views are stunning. You do need to take some provisions with you as you need to take a taxi journey to Schladming to get supplies (25mins journey). Would recommend chalet for groups and couples the hotel (which looked wonderful).

Just returned from this little Austrian Gem of a Hotel - Situated up the mountain right on the Piste 2a (Red) in Reiteralm. We had room 203 which is in the annexe accessed by an underground walkway or overground - Rooms are large and very well equipped with comfy beds etc - Piste literally ran underneath our window - as did the piste bashers at night which was great to watch - They also have detached timber lodges for rent.

There is a lovely spa, again accessed via and under Piste walkway that is situated on the edge of the piste opposite the hotel. Great to sit and watch the end of day skiing carnage :-) - The food was plentiful, if somewhat unusual on some nights - Breakfast was lovely but the only hot offering was a boiled egg but didn't bother us much as there was so much else to choose from.

The owner didn't speak much english but made a point of asking us how our day had been everyday. His staff were mostly young but very efficient and very very friendly. No expense has been spared with this place - It really is lovely.

Schladming is an amazing ski area. Something for everyone.

One point to note - The slopes down to the gondola are serious reds - That's the only way down - So if you can confidently ski reds then I can't recommend this place highly enough - travelled with Crystal Ski and trip and transfers were well organised.

Room tip: Room 203 overlooks the Piste

I'm actually writing this in bed on the last night of my trip (Feb 1st 2014) and have thoroughly enjoyed my stay and would not hesitate to recommend Almwelt based on the friendly staff and excellent service we have experienced.

It's not a massively varied menu, it's not a huge bar, it's small, cosy, and a great ski in / ski out location... as a boarder Reiteralm is definitely the best mountain in the range... Or at least if you visit beware blue runs on maps that look like shortcuts as they tend to be flat runs... Anyway, I digress... Almwelt, is a great option if you want to visit Schladming, the staff are friendly and welcoming, the service is great, the accommodation is more than adequate, and the Wellness centre is a great option after a hard day on the slopes.

I'd be happy to come back and stay here, and would recommend it to friends and be confident they wouldn't be disappointed.

What an amazing stay here. Our group of 3 old friends and our together 5 kids (w/o their mothers :)) did really enjoy accommodation in Wilderer challet, which is so spacy, well equipped, with absolutely nothing to claim. As we arrived to "skiopenning season in Ski Amade", the hotel and its facilities were not in full service, which was compensated by really off season's friendly price. Will definitely go back next year.

P.S. The route from Pichl in valley up to Almwelt is not distinctively marked, it could be a strong adventure if you climb up by car the hill (partially crossing the ski slopes) when the dark is out and heavy snowfall as I did :)

I recently stayed with my cousin and his family from Unterrabnitz and have never enjoyed a ski holiday so much in my life.It is the ultimate in a skiing experience. From the wellness center to the wonderful restaurant you will not be disappointed.I cannot fathom a place in America that you can receive such wonderful accommodations. The location is absolutely perfect, the only thing that is better than the location was the staff.By far the most friendly and accommodating staff. There is no place like it and I just hope I will be able to return soon.

Room tip: Stay in the cabin next to the Schneppfen Alm and no matter how bad the weather you can go by tunnel to the restaurant. But no matter where you stay you will be happy. And if not you cannot be made happy.
