Review of Bhalka Tirth

Bhalka Tirth

This is the place where Krishan was shot by an arrow. The temple is under construction. The best part is that they have still retained the original tree below which Krishna was sitting. The tree passes right through the temple roof. Vehicle parking is a big issue.

It made me revisit the mythology and sequence of events. It made me rethink that Almighty lived as one of us and showed that law of karma can't be evaded- not even by God's.

You can visit this place while you are going towards Veraval. It has got historical stories on Shri Krishna.

Among the many holy places near Somnath, Bhalka Teerth deserves a special mention. Located between Somnath and Veraval, it is at this spot that Lord Krishna received a fatal wound from the arrow of a hunter; he happened to be resting under a pipal tree at that time. Lord Krishna pardons the hunter but goes on to Dehotsarg, four kilometre from this spot to finally depart for his heavenly abode.
A Small and neat btemple. Has religious significance. If you are in Somnath you should certainly visit.
