Never been to the Algarve, never been to Vilamoura. Only new it for Marina, golf & where footballers of the 80/90s hung out!
So pleasantly surprised to find one of the best kept archeological sites we have visited, and we have visited a few! ( just ask the kids)
For only €3 per person you are given free range to walk around the dig site & small museum. The Roman bath unearthed is probably the best seen outside of Bath in terms of not being a pile of stones!!

For 3 Euros admission fee, well worth a look if you are in vilamoura. An interesting site and it appears that there is more there to be uncovered.

An unexpected bonus to an excellent holiday. Well worth the low admission fee. Not a large site, but has fantastic mosaics and good examples of baths and hypocausts. Small museum with interesting artefacts. Worth an hour or so of your time.

When you go to a place that advertises Roman ruins, you expect education and clarity - not a few remains with fading signs and a pamphlet that doesn't really help you navigate the ruins. We got the feeling that nobody really cares about this place and it's only there to bring in a few Euros to help the local economy.

We really hadn’t expected to find a well excavated roman sight in Vilamoura, but Cerro da Vila was excellent. It has a museum area showing many of the artefacts dug from the site and the outside area is well presented and signed. It is very reasonably priced and well worth a visit.

This was a wonderful find whilst visiting Villamoura. If you like ancient ruins it will be just right for you.
I have always been interested in Roman ruins and this was a lovely find.
Low cost and definitely worth a visit.
