This was the last hotel we visited at the end of a month long trip in the Philippines and by far the worst of our stay.
We were expecting a chilled beach resort with good amenities but this couldn't be further from the truth.
Room- quite good, spacious, bright and clean but sadly that was the only positive. There is no beach, just a construction site where I can only assume they are attempting to create a man made beach.
Food- "Waves" restaurant is terrible and hugely over priced. The breakfast was all covered in flies with some of the worst selection of food I have ever seen. We ate lunch in the Earth restaurant at the Solea which was better but service was extremely slow.
Location- the two hotels are in the middle of no where with no other food alternatives nearby. Also, no taxi drivers know where the hotel is so if you do venture about 20-30 mins outside of the hotel in search of some life. Also if you want a taxi to go anywhere, be prepared to wait half an hour as no taxis service this area regularly.
Service- in general, most of the staff seem bored and uninterested with very little awareness or appreciation for customer service.
We ended up paying for day passes at the Movenpick resort for the day and the two resorts couldn't be further apart. We were only day guests at Movenpick but the staff could not do enough for us. They were extremely helpful, attentive and regularly asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything. We were never asked if everything was ok or if we needed anything at the best western. The hotel has a very long way to go if it wants to compete with other hotels in Mactan, or in the Philippines in general.
