we opted to use D1 Watersports at Portomaso to get to the Blue Lagoon as we had searched many other boat trips and they were all extremely expensive, took a long time to get there and most of them had bad reviews. D1 Watersports was advertised in our Hotel Radisson Blu St Julians so we decided to go with this company. It cost us 28 euros each, which compared with other trips such as the Hera cruises which cost 58 euros per person (double the price) this was extremely reasonable. We booked with our hotel concierge service and they arranged for a member of D1 Watersports to pick us up from the Hotel free of charge, this was excellent service and they arrived on time too.
The ride was brilliant we were in a 6 seater inflatable rib speed boat and we experienced a fantastic exhilarating ride. we firstly stopped at the Comino caves and with most boats as they are so big they cannot go very close but on this speed boat we went right into the caves, this was a great experience and a must see!! We then headed around to the Blue Lagoon, which because it did not take long to get there we beat the hundreds of tourists that flock to the Blue Lagoon all coming on the larger cruise boats, so we managed to get the best spot available right by the edge of the lagoon.
We spent 4 hours at the Lagoon before being picked up promptly to be taken back to St Julians, which is just enough time as there is nothing else here except the crystal clear water, so 4 hours is plenty of time.
Overall I would say this is the best way to get to the blue Lagoon, it is exciting, fast and cheaper than many other companies.
