Beautiful hotel in a great location

We cannot fault anything about our stay. The hotel staff were all friendly, courteous and very helpful. The rooms were huge, clean and well decorated and had everything you needed for a comfortable stay. The breakfast was always well stocked with many hot and cold options. The highlight for our children was the indoor pool. The rooftop deck and pool gave lovely views over the bay and was open all day. We couldn’t recommend Holm Boutique and Spa highly enough. Location wise it’s a short walk into the centre of St Julian’s along the waterfront or if you head in the opposite direction Sliema can be reached in about 20 minutes again along the waterfront.

Room Tip: We used Bolt taxis to venture further afield, which were fast and reliable for a family party of 8.

Great experience at Holm Boutique and Spa.
Very nice structure with amazing staff. We also had a massage (me and my wife) with Lani and Iheb. They have been amazing. Great mood and super professional treatment. Thanks a lot. I would definitely recommend this top place for either families or couples

When we return to Malta we will stay at Holm Boutique and Spa without question. We love the boutique nature of Holm .Rooms are great with plenty of space and good quality facilities, excellent bed, good shower etc. Spa facilities are lovely and a great place to relax after a day out enjoying Malta . The hotel is so quiet, comfortable and only 10 minutes walk to some great bars and restaurants on Balluta Bay. It is located at the end of a small street so no passing traffic at all . They have a fantastic team who are always smiling, welcoming and wanting to make our stay the best possible. We will be telling friends and family about our stay and recommend without hesitation.

Terrible service at the SPA..
They didn't have our reservation, they took less time for the massage and the massage was very bad, I was left with a headache..
Everything else went relatively well, however this ruined the end of the vacation.

I personally investigated this matter, and I’d like to clarify a few details. We do acknowledge that there was an overbooking with your reservation, and I apologize for the inconvenience this caused. In response, we offered you an alternative timing, which you accepted, as well as a significant discount for all three individuals in your party. This adjustment was intended to reflect our commitment to addressing any inconvenience and ensuring a positive experience.

Our Operations Manager mentioned that you requested complimentary treatments for all three guests. While we appreciate your feedback, we believe the offered resolution was both reasonable and reflective of our commitment to your satisfaction.

Overall disappointing, though management did attempt to fix some issues when we complained.
-Customer service needs improvement; staff often chat during breakfast with little to no work to do, while at other times, only one receptionist is available and can't leave the desk (especially at night; management suggested it is a cost-saving exercise).
-Room service was poor; on 3 occasions we had to request toilet rolls, and on 1 occasion soap refills as they weren't replenished after cleaning.
-Breakfast was very poor with limited continental choices that were often stale, like bread, or became unavailable, like fruit yoghurt. The hot breakfast was lukewarm and quickly went cold. Needs more vegetarian/vegan options.
-The gym is tiny and rundown, accommodating a maximum of two people. The air conditioning was off, making it warm. Management said it could be turned on upon request, but there’s no signage indicating this.
-Room maintenance was disappointing: black mould in shower grout, patchy paintwork, bubbling wallpaper, and torn rugs, falling short of advertised standards.
-The pool and communal tanning areas were also disappointing; the pool is cold, and sun loungers are tightly packed. The plants are dying. Ugly surrounding buildings.
-At times, it felt like a hostel, with groups playing loud music in rooms, drinking vodka, and playing drinking games.
-The approach to the hotel is on a slippery, steep slope surrounded by dilapidated buildings and noisy ongoing construction.
- No Netflix available, and very poor TV channel choice.

Room tip: do not book!

The hotel is OK. Visually its lovely. The decorating is very striking but the hotel is missing some things which would have made the stay more enjoyable. We noticed other guests were offered a welcome cocktail on arrival but we weren't.

We stayed in 'Mirror Mirror' which was a large room. It is decorated gold and white and was nice and clean. I was looking forward to the themed room but was disappointed when we were put in this room. There isnt much of a theme other than 1 mirror on the wall and a few gold decorations. The room was spacious which was ideal because there was 3 of us staying in it (2 adults and a 7 year old). There is a fridge, kitchenette, coffee machine etc which was handy.

The breakfast was varied and we enjoyed it every morning. There are cooked items as well as ham and cheese, salad, pastries etc

We enjoyed the use of the pool and our hot tub - especially by our 7 year old. The rooftop is lovely, the pool was bit cold but was fine once you were in.
We had a great view from our balcony.
It was quiet throughout the week and evenings. Although the hot tub did begin to smell towards the end of the week.

Unfortunately the hotel is lacking in food service. There are menus on display throughout the hotel and even by the pool. We managed the order food on our first night (salad, pizza, toasted sandwich) and payment was taken by reception. But they then said they didn't have the salad and had ordered a takeaway pizza in. After a day of travelling with a tired 7 year old this wasn't ideal. The receptionist made a salad with what she could find in the kitchen.

The next day when we asked about food at lunch time we were told that they didn't do food and we had to order takeaway in using Uber Eats or Bolt. We weren't expecting to spend our holiday eating takeaway, it's not ideal.

We found the staff to be OK, not overly friendly. One morning we think the hotel owners or management were there because service at breakfast was really good. But other mornings staff ignored people waiting at reception and for coffee etc.

Places we enjoyed on our stay were the Aquarium, Classic Car Museum, the Splash Water Park, The War Rooms and Gun Museum in Valetta.

Overall the stay was just OK. We were glad to go home at the end of the week. I wouldn't return to these hotels.
