Despite being located near some villages and cities, this is a remote place. With almost no traffic signs, the only destination nearby that can helps to locate it is the “Barragem da Queimadela” (Queimadela Damn). Better try with GPS but after Pontido you have to insert Queimadela – otherwise you´ll never get here.
Ancient roads, no signs... well that´s the worst part.
After getting there the place is fantastic – mainly cause of the natural environment.
The sound and the nature by the river are the landmark of the place.

You can walk around, there are some marked trails – not much else to do.

Nice restaurant, a bit expensive by local standard, with traditional food. The service can be slow but in a place like that who cares... you have plenty of time.

A place to relax, to enjoy good food and have a taste how people lived in the old days.
Fortunately globalization has not reach this place.

My stay at Aldeia do Pontido was just perfect!
You can relax, read a book while hearing the sound of the stream... I walked around and took hundreds of photos in the streams, to animals, to flowers...
Every house has it's own kitchen so we prepared our meals there.
The breakfast was very good...
So, do not hesitate if you are not sure if you should go to Aldeia do Pontido or not.
And the price... excellent! For me, the price of one night is at least 50% lower than the real value of the property!
A perfect choice!!!

Room Tip: Any room would be excellent! The place is so calm and quit.... just wonderful!
