We hired a motorbike in Romblon town and headed out to this accommodation after word of mouth recommendation..in fact the lady who rent us the bike made the phone call and reservations for us ! We arrived to a very warm welcome..guest accomodations are set in an absolutely gorgeous garden .. several types of accommodation choice here..including backpacker female and Male bunk rooms..private guest suites..traditonal kubo style rooms with private bathroom some with aircon some with fan..Fantastic spot to snorkel..loved the swingbridge out to the cosy covered cottage to relax or watch sunset with a few beers..the owners will prepare meals for you..but no set menu..we didn't avail.of this service..rooms very clean and well equipped..very good value for money.

We had a lovely stay in Coral Canyon... First of all Eric and Melissa are the best hosts ever. We had never felt so much part of the family like with them. We really enjoyed the amazing European breakfast that they prepare with all homemade bread, jams, yogurt... just in front of the sea. The cottage is native and very well decorated, clean and comfy. They were very helpful at all time, we enjoyed dinner at home, Eric played piano and accordion... it was magic! We will definitely be back soon. Wishing the the best and 100% recommending their lovely guesthouse ๐Ÿค—

Very nice place and limited number of rooms, with stunning view, swimming pool, but the owner is very greedy....the meal is 450 pesos and clearly not worth the money....I told him and he got excited....we won't go back.

Simply a little slice of heaven on earth.
This is now the best breakfast we've tried in the Philippines, simple, tasty and 100% home made.
The staff is everything you wish for while on holidays. the place is far from the hussle and bustle, which makes for a peaceful retreat, with an amazing snorkeling area right outside the resort.
It takes 20 minutes by motorcycle to get to town and you can easily go around the island in an hour and a half if you dont stop, but... why would you even want to leave this place?
we will definitely come back.

The following is my sad but true experience with the Coral Canyon Resort. Iโ€™m taking no creative liberties. These arenโ€™t alt-facts. The following is the truth. The whole truth. With a bit of supposition, sure. Really, I canโ€™t claim to know what exactly goes on in anotherโ€™s fatuous mind.

To wit!

I sent the owner, Eric, 1/3 deposit for a 4 night stay. $50. Then one email asking whether heโ€™d received it and could he please verify the reservation. Then another. And another. Another. And finally the obligatory angry one. And then that recognition. The finality of it all: Iโ€™d never hear from him again. Eric had simply scampered off with my money. I never did hear from him againโ€ฆ

Now, I find it incredibly hard to believe anyone not in their right mind would steal a paltry fifty bucks for a business that generally relies on good word of mouth to thrive. But what other conclusion to draw?

Listen, I blame myself partly. He wanted the funds wired via Western Union. Maybe more than his desultory 2 week delay in getting back to me, that right there. Anyone in this day and age I don't care where in the world who doesn't use something akin to Remitly or Paypal but Western Union? It reeks of arthritis and macular degeneration; you are asking for trouble.

And that delay in getting back. It got me thinking. See, it was the utter indifference to my request. And now I was getting a sneaking suspicion he didnโ€™t care whether I was ever a guest or not. You know those owners whose 2-star digs pretend to sophistication? Right?

But I really do love a pool when traveling. The pictures on their stunted website made it look agreeable enough. Iโ€™d read about Ericโ€™s quaint piano playing, soโ€ฆ

When he finally responded with an alternate account number after his first proved disagreeable, I took the bait and wired the money in good faith. Expecting some kind of confirmation from him either way, I sent a screenshot of the WU confirmation to him. Can you please confirm you got the money? Something. Anything. Iโ€™m not looking for War & Peace, how about: Oui et au plaisir de vous voir bientรดt!

Nothing.

Was what just happened really happening?

A few hundred bucks maybe I could understand. If you're gonna steal make it worthwhile: Go big or go home! But thieving $50 is akin to running off with that friend's jacket you coveted and then asked to borrow but never gave back. It's not just petty. It's gross. Juvenile.

Sigh. Cโ€™est la vie, oui?!

So. My opinion of Eric? He strikes me as the kind of person who simply couldn't be bothered with sending the obligatory receipt and after one too many "bothersome" emails asking for any kind of reply? He simply decided that anyone who didn't do business his meandering way could hit the highway. And he pocketed the cash. Somewhere in his primitive mind, I think heโ€™s justified the theft as a matter of person style...

And my sincere advice? Donโ€™t ever bother with this place.
