Arrived for checkin at 12.30am. Travelled from cardiff for business and was working yesterday evening which prompted my late arrival. This booking was made by my company through booking.com and only today on thoroughly searching have i found a small reference to last checkin being 11pm on the old english inn website - none of this was mentioned on the reservation confirmation. I stood outside trying to ring - to which it went straight to automated service or ring the bell - which did nothing, for an hour and a half, until 2.15am. I could not get another hotel, nor get through to anyone who could help, and was left with no option but to drive all the way back to cardiff and miss the business i had booked for the following day. This ridiculous company has lost me more money than just the room cost and on managing to finally get through to someone at reservations her response was a completely non interested 'we dont have late checkin'. Well, thanks for telling me that previously - that would have been the most helpful thing you have managed to do. Never again, my company books hotels throughout the UK several times a week, suffice to say, we'll not be booking with greenking in the future.

Great view from reception but that's it, tiny tired room terrible food in restaurant that looks and feels like a low quality pub

Poor quality service and standards overall one of the worst hotels I've visited in many years

I am a regular at the rising sun, and have had many amazing meals here however on my latest trip the meal was very disappointing. After booking a table in advance we Waited over an hour for our mains, no apologises or updates on our orders.
An apology would have gone a long way

The views from the hotel over the valley are lovely, on a sunny day you look at the distant Welsh mountains. Behind the hotel is cleeve hill with some lovely walks. The hotel should be as perfect as its location but it is looking very tired. Our room was very ordinary and had only one bedside table, unfortunately outside the room is a flat roof containing the kitchen extractor fans and air con units and they are constantly noisy! I am sure management have never stayed in this room! There was black mould in the bathroom and the sash cord on the window was about to brake. The food in the restaurant was rather ordinary pub food, ok but not wonderful. Do not stay in room 14, we did ask to change rooms but were told the hotel was full, I am not sure that is was true.
