Its been 5 months since the Beach Closure was implemented. Access tobthe beach and swimming is the major attraction of Kilkee. The town has never had a sewerage system despite the large ibcrease in the number of holudays homes and itger accommodation. All the houses connected to the public sewerage system, their effluent is pumped into the Atlantic Ocean untreated. I going to move along the coast until i find a cleaner place.

I've stayed here on a few trips but never more than a night or 2. The beach is beautiful, it's a bay so we weren't fighting any big waves and we had plenty of space on the beach. Some kids playing and people walking their dogs, had a very relaxed feeling. Lots of little shops, cafes and bars nearby to break up the day. Very nice.
It is Ireland however, so if you are expecting Spain like water temperatures you in for a shock.

Moore Bay in Kilkee is lovely!

Way too cold for me to go in - but there were some brave souls?

I do wish people would take their rubbish home with them though!!

The beach was littered with jellyfish, but other than that the sand was white and clean, other than the usual seaweed and rocks. Walks along the strand are enjoyable and calming. Fabulous to sit on the sand and watch the tide roll in.
