Moore Bay in Kilkee is lovely!

Way too cold for me to go in - but there were some brave souls?

I do wish people would take their rubbish home with them though!!

The beach was littered with jellyfish, but other than that the sand was white and clean, other than the usual seaweed and rocks. Walks along the strand are enjoyable and calming. Fabulous to sit on the sand and watch the tide roll in.

Nice location but you cannot swim nor can you walk with pets as it is contaminated and this will last 2 monhs

Kilkee beach is marvellous to walk in wintertime when the tide is out and the clean hard sand makes it really comfortable for a nice stroll. The beach is open but Irish Water, the state authority for water and waste water, has recommended that people don't swim at the moment. Not too many people swim in the Atlantic at this time of year but the few that do and the famous Christmas Day swimmers are certainly put off. I don't know why. After exception heavy rainfall the wastewater pump was overwhelmed and the effluent overflowed into a stream that feeds into the bay. This has been rectified but why is the no-swim notice still displayed. Kilkee has a very big tide and the beach is thoroughly washed twice a day. If there was some contamination before Christmas it certainly can't be there now. Roll on the summer when we can all get swimming again.

Very disappointed on arrival in Kilkee for an extended visit, to find that Irish Water/Clare County Council in the interest of public safety closed the beach for 1 month. The traditional Christmas Day Swim was cancelled. Waste water treatment has been a long standing issue for Kilkee, hard to understand why it has not been implemented. This will have a negative impact on Tourism as the Beach/Ocean are one of the main a for visiting.
