Wow!!! & of us had booked in for dinner and I must say that the place was completely rammed. We had a 10 minute wait for our table but boy was it worth it!!! Starters came out quickly and were piping hot and delicious. Mains were outstanding and desserts were beautiful.
Nothing was too much for any of the staff and we left barely able to move with the portions being so big and delicious!!
Will definitely be going back next time we are down.
Sad to here though that the place is closing in 2020

Have been to this restaurants on numerous occasions we visited last night 7 of us and all had a great meal we had 3 course with tea/coffee. 21.99 pp which has gone up over the year was still a great price soup was amazing as was the steak .
But have to say the staff where the best by far we had a lovely black hair tall gentleman serve us and all party commented on how professional friendly and charming he was he must be new as have never seen him before but do hope he stays as is a great asset to this restaurant

Oscars has been doing a great trade in food for as long as I can remember,
Always go hungry as the portions here are fit for a farmer .
The steaks ,for which they are famous are full of flavour and that pepper sauce a must Desserts are homemade and the banoffie pie ,if you can fit it in ,is a winner.
Try get the seaview windows and you wont be disappointed. .

An old family favourite, Oscar Taylor Restaurant in Malahide. A joint family birthday warranted another visit to a well loved restaurant. How it took a turn for the worse.

Part One - The Arrival

A table was booked for eighteen people a few months in advance. Keep that in mind. A few *MONTHS* in advance. When we arrived, we waited for half an hour as the table was not ready. The one booked in advance. Some time later, we got our table and sat down, waited a further FIFTEEN MINUTES, before we had to ask for our drinks orders to be taken. Yes, we had to ASK for our DRINK ORDERS to be taken.

Part Two - Starters

We finally got some menus. I ordered the garlic bread as a starter and turkey and ham as a main. The garlic bread was not great. They literally cut the corners on it, as the garlic butter was a big blob in the center. Not spread at all.

Part Three - Mains

As I mentioned earlier, I ordered the turkey and ham. Both of which were as dry as a bone and flavourless. A cousin of mine and my great aunt ordered the curry, both of them ordered extra curry sauce as the food came with little or none to begin with.

Part Four - The Desserts

This is where it gets REALLY bad. We were informed by a waiter that there were only a few servings of trifle, profiteroles and pavlova remaining, despite ordering a table for eighteen months in advance. We all made changes to our dessert orders and were given them. The pavlova I ordered as opposed to my original order of profiteroles, was not particularly nice. Flavour was lacking as presentation was pathetic.

Part Five - The Staff

The staff were extremely rude to us. One waiter in particular was impatient, rude and condescending to many of us. He acted like we were an inconvenience when we asked for something. This same waiter laughed patronizingly at some of us. We decided to not have the birthday cake and save it for a family gathering later. The lady who was waiting to cut it was extremely rude when we politely said that we wouldn't have any cake. Again, acting as if we were an inconvenience.

Part Six - Conclusion

I don't know if there has been a change in hands, but Oscar Taylor's isn't what it used to be. If they don't get rid of their rude and condescending staff and get better food, our money will be going elsewhere, and somewhere else will be the family favourite.

Tried this place twice recently for Sunday lunch , 1st time food ok, last Sunday just terrible .It really needs to be closed for a period to be updated as everything is old , clientele no more than myself are the older generation who maybe just go for nostalgia sake .Deserts loo wonderful, but the quality of food for a Sunday lunch leaves a lot to be desired. When even the gravy is lumpy you now you are in trouble .dont go until the standards are brought up to date as the toilets smell glass panels broken as is the same with the main door ..You have been warned
