We booked 2 nights at Cedar House after reading the reviews on Booking .com and trip advisor but feel disappointed as the house and room did not match the reviews we were in room 4 it was a large room with outdated furniture which looked extremely tired and in need of updating. . We booked 2 nights but any longer and we would of had to leave as we both struggled to sleep on the bed and mattress which was a memory foam mattress and on the hard side it was also lumpy and cushions also were memory foam and also hard it felt as though you were falling out of the bed and so leaving us both tired for our days out .. The shower was also a problem it jumped from very hot to freezing and low on pressure .also the windows were an issue they would not lock in an open position due go the secondary glazing .. Breakfast was average .. But on a good note
The room was lovely and warm and clean. and the kit kat and biscuits was a nice touch ..
And also the owners were friendly and welcoming. .. but sadly we will not be staying there again

A very warm welcome at this B&B which is conveniently close to the town centre, bus & rail stations, and Sainsbury’s supermarket. Our hostess spared no efforts to provide vegan options for breakfast and in ample quantities.
Our room was a good size, well presented with an ample level of extras & toiletries.
If I have one gripe it would be the noise from revellers leaving the bars on Dale Road in the early hours on the Friday and Saturday nights. Maybe a room on the town side of the house is quieter.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back (town) side for a quiet night

A welcoming, homely atmosphere. Excellent room, had everything we needed. Was really clean, and breakfast was YUM YUM YUMMY. Fresh fruit, full English, and much more. Well worth a visit.
Close to river and good central locating for exploring Matlock and the surrounding areas.

Stopping in Matlock for one night. Room was booked for us by another friend. B and B was very close to town centre, was clean and we had a very good sized room. Hostess was friendly from first moment we arrived. Good choice of breakfast too.

Went to the Christmas event at Chatsworth House and didn’t fancy driving home in the dark so booked into the B&B for one night only.

When we arrived we got a very friendly greeting .

The B&B is located off the A6 in a cul-de-sac but very easy to find and very quiet.

It is only a couple of minutes walk to the town centre via a well kept park. The town has good shopping and there are plenty of places to eat of various cuisines. Matlock is a very clean and attractive small town.

The B&B was very clean and warm.

The bedroom was very well appointed with tea and coffee making facilities with plenty of supplies. A small Kitkat was supplied on each bed which was a great touch!

The en suite bathroom was very clean and a decent size with a great shower. Plenty of towels and toiletries were supplied.

The bed was large and the mattress very comfortable.

The wi-if connection was faultless and we were at the very top of the house and we got immediate connection after logging in.

The breakfast was absolutely superb! Everything was cooked to perfection with good quality ingredients. A great choice of cereals, plentiful orange juice and tea and coffee. I was particularly pleased with the coffee which was extremely good!

One word of caution, the stairs are very steep and there are 3 floors so if you struggle with stairs make sure you ask for the first floor!

Overall this was a great place to stay in a really pleasant town and cannot praise it highly enough.

I suspect we will be back!
