I am always happy when Ian within striking distance of the Old Bridge in Huntington, for lunch or diner and above all their wine shop where some rather fine wines are available. Food and service are also excellent.

Thank you again Philip - delighted to hear the wine shop team looked after you well. It's an unusual part of our hotel, a shop dedicated to wine, but it does seem to work extremely well.

Best wishes

Whilst travelling en route from Warwickshire to Norfolk, after much internet research we identify The Old Bridge as the perfect stop-off venue to take Saturday morning breakfast; we telephone ahead to clarify non-Residents were welcome & were informed yes, absolutely & that breakfast service ceased at 10.00.

We arrived circa 9.00am & were immediately impressed by the immaculately styled & manicured grounds & gardens which were stunning & really very contemporary in design.

Upon entering the restaurant we were also equally impressed by the beautiful interior-design & clever mix of classic, traditional with a modern, trendy twist.

However, despite introducing myself as the Lady whom had just literally, less than twenty minutes ahead, rang to make a breakfast reservation, I was met with a stony faced, nonchalant, vacant look & disinterested response from a young Lady with a long blonde pony tail; whose extended customer service failed to improve at any juncture throughout our experience!

In fact, the snooty, snotty, delusions of self-importance such Individual exuded, along with a constant strut & flick of the hair that would be better suited upon a Milan catwalk, was beyond ignorant & was entirely void of any civility or hospitality; which was thoroughly unnecessary & unacceptable & the establishment really should invest in some urgent customer service training or at least monitor the Calibre, or lack of in this instance, of the Staff to whom they let loose upon the front-of-house/customer-facing roles.

It is for that reason alone, why a full five marks has not been awarded upon this occasion; however, despite the grossly & audaciously rude conduct of said Individual, the saving grace was the polite, smiley, personable & helpful Waitress; another young Lady, but with dark hair, whom comparatively was charm personified & whom couldn’t do enough to assist, top up tea & generally provide the level of customer service that is a fundamental necessity.

Additionally, another saving grace, was that the breakfast offering was exceptional; a beautifully presented array of fresh fruits, juices, yoghurts, grains, pastries, jams & honey, along with the most delicious farmshop-esque cooked breakfast with quality ingredients sourced locally, which was priced at £17 per person which was really great value considering the high-end environment in which we dined.

The Hotel itself looks amazing & is definitely one upon the list to try for a future weekend away; although upon my return, I will not tolerate the ill mannered service I endured upon this occasion & I sincerely regret not challenging such Individual or establishing her name to complain about such to management..... Reason I didn’t was because my Husband discouraged me to do so upon the basis he wanted a calming quiet start to our weekend away!

Hello Navilluso

I am very sorry to hear about the non-welcome of the person managing breakfast that day. I am really surprised to hear it and I will certainly ensure we talk to her (and all our breakfast team) about the critical importance of warmth, openness and friendliness when greeting and interacting with guests. Those factors are normally the fundamental key to what we do, but I can only apologise that we didn't offer such standards when you visited us.

Kind regards

We booked The Old Bridge as we needed a place to stay with three dogs whilst visiting my partner's family. We couldn't believe our luck. Our room was perfect and included aircon which meant we could leave the dogs in a cool room briefly while we unpacked the car. The staff could not do enough for us, everyone was friendly and chatty and every one of them stopped to pat the dog or bring water bowls/treats etc. The lunch and breakfast was first class, as was the service. It is a beautiful hotel and set in a beautiful location by the river. I appreciated all the little touches and attention the detail (the ladies room in the bar is exquisite). There are some very nice function rooms and a walled garden which looks out over the river and the A14. I was told the A14 will be moved in the next 4 years and the view will be greatly improved, which will make it even better. I am now plotting our return, it made our weekend absolutely perfect. A massive thank you from all five of us.

Room tip: Standard double is perfect for two people

The Beast from the East bit hard and we were forced to stop, searching for any accommodation en route home from Stansted. Arriving in a snow storm at 10.30 at night, we met with a warm welcome and willing attention to our plight. Sandwiches and drinks were provided even though the restaurant had long closed; accommodation was warm, cosy and very comfortable. An excellent breakfast overlooking a snowy garden with a rabbit snowman added to the ambiance! We will be back- in better weather! Thank you to the staff on duty that night in early March.
