I have been working on the area & have been eating in the POW several nights a week the food is always very nice and tasty and enjoyable.

The landlord Simon is always willing to vary the menu ( slightly obviously should you prefer new potatoes rather than chips)

Called in with a couple of friends for a quick lunch.
Great food, friendly staff and good value for money.
Would definitely recommend.

Had a couple of 'locals' arrive during our visit and they were friendly too.

We were driving north from visiting friends in the south of England and booked online the day before. Slightly disconcerted on our arrival at 5.30 pm to find all closed up, but on ringing the bell, Simon appeared at an upstairs window and welcomed us warmly. The pub was closed until 6 pm, and food not available till 7 pm but when it arrived the quality and quantity were superb! Likewise breakfast the next morning. The room was adequate if small and facing on to the front and the road, so traffic noise was notable early morning.

Room tip: Try to get a room at the back.

Most of the pubs I have visited have been a bit daunting when you walk in for the first time. Locals look at you and you feel as if you shouldn't be in their pub, but the Prince of Wales was so friendly. We walked in and before we had time to check out our surrounding the pub landlord and regulars immediately welcomed us with a hello.

We didn't order any food, only because we had already eaten but a chap alongside us was having dinner and it looked and smelt delicious. We went to see a band play and the atmosphere before it started was very convivial, friendly and a very happy pub to be in.
It's not our local but there is no way that we would not return to this lovely pub. Thank you for making our night very enjoyable and to the ladies who were dancing and everyone singing.

We have just spent a night here and will definitely return. From the moment we arrived Simon and his team were very welcoming. Beth checked us in and got us drinks. We had already planned on eating in and were pleasantly surprised at the menu. Lots of cheesey options including breaded brie and Halloumi went down a treat! One veggie and one meaty lasagne ordered with curly fries and salad. The food was excellent. Downside was that unusually we couldn't even manage dessert. It's nice to see proper pub food at proper pub prices still. Agreed that the shower room was a little dated however the shower was great. Big towels and hair dryer provided. The bed was very comfy. The room had everything we needed. Tea, coffee, television, wifi and space for our dog crate. Toast, cereal and even salmon and eggs were offered but we both went full English!!! The meat option was sausage, bacon, black pudding, potatoes fried bread, egg, beans, tomatoes and mushrooms. As a veggie i had double fried egg and all the non meaty stuff! It was proper coffee too! (Maybe keep a pack of quorn sausages in the freezer??) Thanks again and hope to see you soon!!
